What are you going to do if Rhule turns it around next year?

Was viewing the game yesterday with Lady Cowboy Fan when we heard Matt Millen and his broadcast partner talk about believing in Rhule and saying that he deserved another year.

She laughed and asked what games these guys were watching.

Getting a vote of confidence from Matt Millen is a sure sign of failure. That guy was horrible in Detroit for years

We keep Rhule and fix the oline.  Darnold turns out to be pretty good with protection.  Defense gets time to rest and plays elite.  We go the playoff and look like legit contenders.

Will your opinion of Rhule change?

Protection is talked about far too much by the Darnold apologists.  Let me lay some stats on ya.

Here are the current sacks surrendered numbers for the league:

Yep, there we are 4th from bottom.  Our line is terrible.  However, Cincy is WORSE.  And yet . . .

There's Joe Burrow, top five in passing yards and completion percentage.  #6 in TD's.  Oh, his team is 10-6 and have their division wrapped up.

Ryan Tannehill with Tennessee is struggling this year, not a great line.  Lots of sacks.  Yet that team is 11-5, in the playoffs, and scoring 24 per game.

I definitely agree, it's much easier when you have a good line.  By the same token, a good QB and scheme can do things even with a bad line.

I'm sure Ron Rivera would find that information very useful.

Me? Not really up for hoping that we can be some kind of odd exception to the rule.

Not a chance. Rhule isn't capable of turning it around I do not believe. I do however believe that Rhule gets close to a .599 winning percentage with luck and Tepper decided to keep him another year more and then we go something like 3-14 in 2023 finally firing this guy but by that time the franchise could be in such bad shape that it will take 5 years to even sniff playoffs with an actual good legitimate NFL head coach.

I think we can discuss this more logically in the offseason as there is almost no room here to give Rhule and Tepper some benefit without being strung up.

For me Rhule was always on a three year program. It takes an amount of time to instill a brand and a philosophy. And while we are all frustrated I am perfectly happy to see if Matt can turn it around. And Tepper who I am sure hates this more than anyone.

I imagine Rhule will be on the top of the hotseat list next year and a candidate to be the first coach fired next year if we aren't on track to make the playoffs.

So I am not freaking out. yet.

And Tepper is not trying to leave Charlotte. Just stfu if you think this.
