Broncos are worth way more than $2B.  Forbes has them worth 3.75b.

Right, so he can ‘afford’ to buy 12% of the team if he sinks everything into it. Aren’t there rules stating how much auxiliary cash owners have on hand to have for operational stuff?

Sounds like he is either being given money by the nfl to buy the team (free loans or grants) or financing rules are being changed for him.

Its the NFL trying to save face with a black candidate.  The other owners aren't going to allow the Bronco's to be sold for 2B because it lowers the worth of the other owners.  It will sell closer to 4b and to someone with deeper pockets.  If he is part of a plan to buy at 4b...he may be the face but he isn't "the" owner.  Someone else will be majority.

We’ll see. He’s definitely getting the team if Roger is asking him to do it.

I bet he’ll have a large ownership group with him securing the controlling spot via direct NFL financing.

The other owners are effectively buying themselves a minority owner.

You're a troll so, not really taking you seriously but our new training facility is telling you to gfy.

No offense, but I'd take smart coaches training the team in a rundown schoolyard over dumb coaches training in the best facilities available ten times out of ten.

High five to you're reply but this thread was / is about ownership, I thought?

Striking out on your first coach, if that's what turns out to be the end case, is nothing to burn the house down about.  We can only really judge him by his ability to adapt and overcome.

I'd say realistically, it takes at least five years to figure out what you have in an owner. I want to say ten years, given how hard it is to find an elite coach but.. I'll concede with five.

they want a token, just like you

Stirs couldn't have hand-picked a better candidate himself. Allen is partnered with Sinclair Broadcasting(remember the 'fake news' script they forced their affiliates to read on-air), and co-owns FoxSports. So now the NFL will be able to use FoxSports AND ESPN as their mouthpieces with less pushback.

So how is this going to work?

Current rules state the majority owner must own at least 30% of a franchise.

If Byron liquidated everything he owns, he could only buy 22% (assuming a $2B price).

Are they going to give him a huge discount or something or his he taking on a massive pile of debt.

Edit: The team is worth $3B.

Yeah I can't see any possible way he winds up as majority owner of the Broncos. Involved in a group with someone else behind the scenes as majority owner but Byron basically running the team is more likely. Odds are though that some richer billionaire just buys it outright like Tepper did, there will be no shortage of suitors. Bezos may be one...

I wonder who he will add to his ownership group to get the rest of the money. No way his net worth of $450M will get the job done alone.

That's not an accurate net worth for him.  He's a billionaire.  He owns the Weather Channel and recently settled a lawsuit with Comcast and Charter Communications.  That net worth reading of 450 is likely old.  He will likely be a majority owner with no need for a group.
