But that doesn't make Baker a good QB.  Nor does playing him really serve a purpose outside of Rhule trying to squeak out the max possible wins.  I'd rather Rhule play whatever combo of his handpicked Sam/PJ to start off the year and see what Matt Corral has.  That will help us make decisions next offseason.

There are at least some hints in this and other articles that Ben McAdoo might be okay with that option as well.

It's basically just first impressions right now. Nobody really knows anything definitive yet.

The way I look at it, if Corral is going to struggle in his first year under center.  I would rather him do it this year than having to wait until 2023.  If Corral can execute the playbook.  Let him play.  Our line is much better so he won't be running for his life.

I still wish they would sign Cam as a backup.  He's much better than PJ and Darnold.

That's the biggest issue. I don't care how good sammy looks in practice or how much he seems to have improved there. if there's no bullets flying, we won't know.

i don't even care how well he does with an improved OL, because there's going to be times it collapses or he perceives it's collapsing or CMC is out or something isn't absolutely perfect and he's going to freak out.

Well they said the same thing last year so I will take it with a grain of salt. 
Practice is such a poor measuring stick for how good/improved a player is. 
Just look at how many UDFA camp MVPs the fans have crowned. Then the season begins and reality hits that player in the face.

I've said this numerous times myself.  We need more than one promising young qb to develop on this team.  Corral could be great but he could also be lost to injury and we have no backup plan.  I'm in the camp that you are always looking for a franchise qb even if you have one already. Those guys are rare and you don't want to be caught without one.

Just resign Cam and have a three-way QB battle in camp and let the best player play.

I don't see and don't hope to see any draft picks lost for either of them.

The article mentions Newton...

The Panthers are open to signing quarterback Cam Newton, but he would not enter camp as the starter, and would have to agree to a smaller salary.

There's still been no indication Newton wants to play for Matt Rhule again, and the team's conditions don't exactly sound "ideal" for him.

And yet the huddle moaned for two months that Rhule would take him at 6 like it was even a question but rather a certainty
