Baker may be happening today.

He's the difference between Baker and Darnold.   Darnold has a lot of the tools to be a good NFL QB, but hasn't shown it outside of flashes here and there.  Baker has most of the tools a guy needs to be successful as a NFL QB, HAS shown it, proved it, but hasn't done it consistently.

Define "put it together".  What does that even mean?  Say his stats mimic his 2020 season and we win 8-10 games.  Then what?

If Baker comes here and leads this team to 10 wins that would be incredible.  We would be in the playoffs and that would be 100% increase in the amount of wins we've had the last 2 seasons.  Who WOULDN'T want that, is the question?

So we take a swing at another proven bad qb?  We already have one of those but he doesn't have a sh!tty attitude.

This FO is so desperate that they will throw assets at any scrub qb. Baker is just as useless as Sam but here we go digging the latrine deeper. I'm so tired of this bullsh!t.

Agree - heck at least we’d have a playoff winning QB on the roster.  If he sucks, then we pick top 10 next year and grab another Qb.  Gotta swing until you hit

Baker doesn’t suck like Sam.  Baker probably gets us to like 7-10.  Maybe 8-9.  And then what do you do.  Extend Baker and not draft a QB?  Anyone trust what this group will do if Baker gets them to 7 or 8 wins?

Me. Are we rebuilding or recycling? They can keep their failure.

Thats my entire point, trading for baker just sets up a headache down the road.

Be prepared for an extension for Baker and Rhule if they get 8 wins.

If we win 10 games (and come on I was being generous) are you comfortable giving him a 5 year deal at the going qb rate?   You want to lock yourself into Mayfield for 5 fuging years?   Lets say he says peace out I aint signing, you going to franchise tag baker effing mayfield?

Mayfield should've been out most of the season. I don't even like his attitude about his inury. He hurt his team by not riding the pine. He was injured though, make no mistake...more than 25 percent of his career.

Sounds familiar. Much like the Cam Newton situation, doesn't the coaching staff bear a fair amount of responsibility for not giving the player the hook if an injury is obviously causing an issue with playing ability?

I dont think this team trades for Baker as a long term solution. They wouldnt have invested in MC if that was the case. They are most likely attempting to get a better bridge than Darnold. As much as we all know Baker aint it, he is closer on the spectrum than SD is.

It would take a trip to NFC championship game for Baker to be considered for an extension.

We're not your damn dumping ground!  We HAVE a new QB and he has more OTAs and training camp and preseason to get up to speed. That's plenty AND others have done it. No b**ch ass'dness! No coddling! Let's GO!

Engine #9 or top five next draft. THAT'S what needs to happen.

This is nonsense!

    • According to the Committee Chairman, losing a conference championship has zero effect on rankings. If you’re Alabama. But not if you’re JMU or Tulane of course. CFP Rules:  “Things don’t matter except when they do.  Also, see Appendix A) Notre Dame rules.”
    • How do the Panthers win Sunday? Playing disciplined D.  Shough can run.  He can also find open guys.  So our team is going to have to play really well and disciplined.  We're also going to have to hit him and move him around. We're going to have to run the ball.  That goes without saying.  It's our identity.  If the zone looks aren't working, then we need to go down hill battering ram to finish this game. We can't turn the ball over.  As we've seen, when we give up the ball early and often, we loose.   Finally - which Bryce do we get?  Do we get the guy who is ready to kick butt?  Or the guy scared of his shadow.   What's the vibe going to be?  Does he give up the football?  Or does he make some great throws with it? As Canales has stated, you don't get much better than "Guys, if we keep winning, we win the division and host a playoff game."  The guys have to know, and they are going to have to play their best football.  So this game is a test.  How ready are they?  Are they good enough to take care of business?  Or will the whole thing fall apart again? I'm not sure how I feel personally.  I want my team to do well.  You never know with a "dead" team like the Saints who would be more than happy to play spoiler to our ambitions of winning a Division Title.  I'd love for us to win, but I also wouldn't be surprised if we blow it and get blown out.
