You waste too much time being the same troll over and over try reading from time to time. I've been wanting us to draft a quarterback all along. We tried to shortcut our way to winning at every turn since we initially released Cam Newton back in 2020. We should have made drafting the next franchise QB our immediate goal. So yes I was obviously in favor of drafting and developing OUR quarterback.

Hmmm,, Maybe.  I am a 1983 Ole Miss graduate.  I have seen many coaching staffs come and go.  You are correct but, it is difficult to determine, how much credit goes to the coach.  The best Ole Miss coach I have seen was Tommy Tubberville.

Ole Miss just posted the most wins in team history. Go look at Kiffin's offenses since his stint at Alabama. From Alabama, to FAU, and Ole Miss he has proven himself to be one of the top offensive coaches in the game of College Football, unsurprisingly. Jeff Leby just left for Oklahoma which doesn't get enough coverage. I think Oklahoma made out like bandits by taking Brent Venebles and getting Leby. 

Venebles is better than Grinch and Leby is better than Lincoln Riley. They may actually have a shot at a National Championship now.

Have to give Corral credit based on my boredom fueled rewatches of his game tapes.

Things that should get people excited:

- His release

- Ball velocity

- Multiple throw angles

- It’s nearly automatic that he makes the first free pass rusher miss

- His feet are always moving but in control. So he can extend plays in, and outside the pocket

The last two led to some incredible plays. 
 

Looking forward to TC. It sucks not be certain about QB, however TC/preseason QB competitions are exciting to watch unfold.

He has all the tools, just like Darnold has all the tools but doesn't have the grey matter that means the most between his ears, people forget how much of the game is mental. No one gave Cam a chance to grasp an NFL offenses by the start of that 2011 season coming from Zone Read in college but he did. I think Matt Corral can grasp it too but it all depends on training camp. If he can grasp the offense and just take care of the ball we could be looking at Dak Prescott/Russel Wilson kind of late rounder rookie QB season.

At least from his pressers it seems like he's taking the mental part very seriously. There's been young QB's who got a little cocky in camps saying the game wasn't that much different than college and then got a rude awakening during their actual first seasons. Watching Sam only run like 6 plays last season it shouldn't be that hard for Corral to jump ahead of him on the playbook once things start to click

Also, when comparing the situation to Dak's in Dallas (who was 7th QB selected in that draft and the only one still with his original team) we see that while Dak was inconsistent with his passing coming out of Mississippi state, what he wasn't inconsistent with was his navigation of the pocket. Of all the QB's in that draft, Dak was the best at navigating the pocket.

This breakdown of Corral navigating his own collapsing pocket should give you goosebumps compared to the shitfest we had with Darnold last season.

Guess we'll see just how accurate indicative of success pocket presence has in evaluation this year. Lets see if it cements the observation that we saw in the Dak Prescott draft, where the only QB with good pocket presence saw success in the NFL.

Bingo. The more I watched, the more his feet (and his calm with pass rushers bearing down) excited me. 

Corral said once he knows the playbook he is ready to play. I think that’s correct.

What I noticed was not his feet, but his concentration.  He continued to look downfield as he was evading the pressure.  So, he used his mobility to buy time for the receivers to get open.  At least in the two situations shown he looked golden. 

I'm assuming those are just a random sampling of the norm, because staying with the pass and buying time are learned.......unless they are not.

I have hope for Corral, but Darnold made some amazing plays at times.  Amazing plays are great, but what I want to see is fewer bad plays, along with being cool under pressure when the game is on the line.

This is the issue with Sam...he CAN make all kinds of throws....but doesn't do it consistently.
