Care to give an example of a third rounder that sat and developed?  Cousins is the only one that comes to mind and that was a long time ago.  However I can think of Dak, Russell and Carr that were drafted in the 2nd or 3rd and could come in and play right off the bat.  If they can play they can play, sitting a qb is a strategy from yesteryear

We're still waiting on Jordan Love to develop...

NFLN reporting a QB competition, so this isn't happening. If Darnold was going to the Browns, he would have been part of the trade.

With both Darnold and Baker in camp, there will be very few reps for Matt to develop.

They have all but given up on Sam.  Matt will get more reps as he earns them and now there is no hurry to get him on the field.  They would have rushed him out with Sam out there throwing picks.

You really think that?  If so see christenson, brady.

this staff is fuging clueless

They traded for a vet QB who is a proven starter because they know Sam isn't the guy.  Baker will start this season unless Corral can show he is ready.  It's McAdoo's new offense so Darnold has little to no advantage as far as the playbook is concerned.

I don't even know why we're talking about corral. Sam will likely be the backup.

It's like we're forgetting who Matt Rhule is.

I will try to be positive here and say that it’s a win-win situation. Baker plays which will allow Corral to ease his way into the NFL. I believe Fitterer made comments along the lines of not wanting to thrust a rookie QB into playing right away.

So Baker ate 3.5 million to come here.  So much for not wanting Carolina.

We paid 5 mill and a conditional 2024 5th rounder.  He's an upgrade over Sam.  I guess we'll see how much.

Damn, that’s wild.  Not sure how much of it is “wanting to come here” vs “please get me the fug out of here” but either way it works out for us

    • I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.
    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
