Help me, I'm feeling optimistic.

I've got a feeling we're going to watch an improved offense only to see the defense go backwards.

Definitely think we're gonna have a repeat of last season (early start, right down to the QB getting revenge against his last team game one) until the real playoff contenders (Cowboys last year, 49ers this year) let the Panthers know whats up.

There's at least a reasonable path to potential success now when looking at the roster, especially in an overall weak NFC.

The massive hurdle to overcome is still Matt Rhule. He either needs to prove this year that he's figured out this college to NFL transition or he needs to get sent packing. No more free passes.

This is basically the whole reason I'm not all that optimistic.  With the exception of QB, some big improvements were made in necessary places (not at all sold on Baker). But as long as that guy has control my optimism has the mute button pressed.

Still more inclined to watch this year than i thought I would be.

    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
    • Dude you are smart fan. 3 on 0 breakaways won’t matter who is in net. You gotta be better on this one.
    • Raiders are gonna get a good one. Rather have Mendoza fly out and play for the Panthers tomorrow than Bryce
