I thought Sam looked fine for where he is (former top 5 pick, awful past team/coaching, with the panthers for just over a year). I still think he has potential.

Baker was largely bad, but I attribute that to being so new with the Panthers and having so much catch up to do. He obviously oozes with escapability, gamebreaker talent and a live arm, but his decision making needs a lot of work.

Didn’t see enough of Matt to get a read. His ball flies with zip like Darnold/Mayfield’s.

PJ definitely had the best day. Had the least reps, but the most successful outcomes.

I was about to say how did Corral do in your opinion? I just cant really tell. Would be nice if he could be the future and we don't have to draft one again next year, or god forbid another retread.

how bout a big Huddle thank you to @falconlynx for all the updates!  And everyone else who helped.  I'm really busy today but having a chance to see all the action in my downtime has been a blessing.  So good to have football back.

Thank you Captain Morgan. Hadn’t done this for us before, but it was quite fun.

Will be at Fanfest as well, but I’ll likely be more engaged with the family that night.

Devils advocate: What if it’s because he’s actually playing to his potential and he legit beats out Baker/Matt and doesn’t crumble after 4 weeks like last year?

Sam is doing exactly what he did last camp.  Checking down.   Playing it safe.   We saw what that lead to in season…..the worst season of his career.

Sam isn’t a NFL QB.

4 years of tape (actually more if you count college) say you have a better chance of winning the mega millions tonight

If Baker loses to mayfield for the job then we are in a real world of poo

Yeah, just not enough sample size.

Crazy how few reps Matt and PJ get compared to the first two.

I bet our best chance to see Matt is going to be late in preseason games. I’d love to see him get a shot with the starters….

Once again people need to chill. Yesterday seemed like a practice was about getting the arm loose and making throws. Today the defense came out and gave them the clamp. This is normal and part of the process. All QBs shrugged and that was the point. They have to get use to the pressure.

There just isn't anything in his football career that indicates that scenario being likely.

He just is what he is.

I think it’s also important for CMC that he has a QB that can stretch the field.

For starters, it will open up more room for him underneath but also not getting hit 20 times a week should do wonders for his body.

Indirectly, Sam could end CMC’s career if he doesn’t learn to spread the ball around.

I’m still not sold on Mayfield yet but the fact that he isn’t keying in on CMC or another back or tight end every snap is nice.

Nothing wrong with viewing things with Panthers tinted shades sometimes but this is maybe you should talk to a therapist levels of delusion. The Jets and their fans already accepted who he is. To look at that and not only say "yeah I'll take more" but go on to say "yeah he could be the guy of the future" is honestly insanity.

Reality is, Mayfield is still brand new to this offense, including the players, coaches, and playbook. He will get more comfortable as camp goes along. He still has nearly a month and a half to get ready for Game 1. He will be the starter.

    • I can't help but think that you are equating physical attributes alone with wins. I don't subscribe to that thought. No one will argue that Young has a strong arm, but he makes up for it in other ways. The real limitation for him is he needs good route runners with great hands. That's why Young was so good at the end of the 24 season. Thielen and Coker were perfect receivers for him and he had his best games with them. Not having them to start the 25 season hurt. Look at the first 10 games in 25 with a rookie receiver and no Coker and then look at the final 7 games with a more experienced rookie and Coker back and there is a telling difference in Young's performance. Prior to week 10, Young had 1 game with a QB rating above 100, 2 games with a rating above 90 and 6 games with a rating below 90. In the last 7 games with Coker back, Young had 3 games with a QB rating above 100, 2 games with a rating above 90 and only 2 games with a rating below 90. The tools a QB has to work with matter more than their arm strength.  To go back to Darnold and Stafford, yes they both have great arm strength but neither had much success with that alone. As I already pointed out, Stafford, even with a canon for an arm, only had 4 winning seasons in his first 12 years. It was only when he went to the right environment that he had true success.
    • I don't love this role for him if I'm being totally honest The pregame show is much more flash than substance and doesn't seem like the right fit for what Luke would bring to the table, and that's his vision of the game. I'd like to see him do something where it more involves him breaking down film and explaining what he's seeing out there, as he sees the game in a way very few ever have.
