From day one Matt Rhule has crushed this young man's spirit.

Put him forth on the worst depth chart in the NFL and absolutely the fewest reps legally allowed.

Matt Corral doesn't have the right coach for him to start this year. This is The Home for Wayward QBs, Matt Rhule prefers guys that have failed in the NFL as a starter already.

F'n backwards world. He's telling this young man he's not better than Sam, Baker(two midgets), or PJ?

If in April he was projected as a mid to late first round pick, was always a top recruit, 72%,69% completion years in the SEC with a rag tag bunch of scrappiness and with him they won more games than they should have and Matt Rhule, among the worst coaches, by record in the NFL, wants him on the end of the bench in some weird tribal custom.

If anything Corral/PJ/that new QB. That should be the real depth chart. We are not competing for the conference championship THIS is the time to develop, instead we're not competing and developing lost QBs instead of the projected 1st rounder we got for a steal.

Matt Corral can play. He's didn't make it this far playing like a chump. I think he showed toughness and other bad circumstances he showed toughness.

He played the end of the game and didn't lose it. He actually hung tough and got enough penalty yards spinning out of a sack to throw down field.

I think he showed heart and great hair despite a coach absolutely hating on you giving as few reps as possible (actions speak louder than words) and great hair.

So he's either your lover or related to you got it...

Rhule is running this team like he knows he’s got that entire 7 year deal before Tepper will ever think about firing him. Just rookies who really need to play get only a few reps. Then holding a pointless QB competition for QB1, denying Baker more reps. Then giving a dead end QB (PJ) the lions share of the playing time. Nothing I saw today suggests that this moron has become any better of an NFL head coach than he was his first two seasons.

The guy was a project. He still is.

People oversold themselves on him as they always do here.

He's struggling where folks expected and as a result he looks worse where guys thought he'd excel.

He'll be an even longer project if they continue to not give him practice reps.

(it has nothing to do with expectations)

You do know that Sam is taller than Matt right? Maybe Matt actually needs some time to adjust like our staff and the analysts were saying. That’s why we picked up Baker AFTER we drafted him. Corral can still have a good future as we don’t have to rush him out this year. He is just going to get better as he learns. Corral has said himself Baker has helped him the most.

Not sure what we expected Corral to do knowing that a majority of the snaps were going towards Mayfield/Darnold in camp for the QB1 competition. I understand wanting to bring a 3rd rounder along slowly, especially at the most important position on the field, but they left that young man incredibly unprepared.

Rivera was blitzing and trying to win a preseason game vs. the 4th string rookie QB that's been getting "mental reps."

Hopefully they'll start giving him actual reps so that he doesn't get any more of his receivers hurt.

Corral did play with scrubs but got rattled by scrubs as well. How he compared to Howell is irrelevant. It was good for him to get his first taste of live action. There is no pressure on him to do anything. And his 3rd round trade up will be what saves him otherwise PJ is much better at this point.  But that doesn't matter he will get more work next week where he might get a full half. And he will make the roster.  But the folks touting him as the best guy we have now see the foolishness of their proclamations. He may be one day but not this year.

    • I know it's only been training camp and one preseason game, but I think T-Mac has already shown his floor to be exactly what I said about him in the pre-draft process. That his floor if he never improves his game, is as one of the best #2 WRs in the NFL, if not even still a low end #1 (i.e. a 25th-ish best WR in the league). I think it's safe to say he's already established himself as our #1, and there are only a small handful of teams in the league where I don't think he'd be their starting #2 WR in Week 1. Bengals (Higgins), Dolphins (Waddle), Eagles (Smith), Bucs (Godwin if healthy), Rams (Adams) are really the only teams where I think he'd be the #3 as a rookie in Week 1.  A few others like the Lions (Williams), Bears (Odunze), Seahawks (Kupp), Commanders (Deebo), where he'd be the 2b to start the season, just because they're vets and/or already have a year or two of experience with their team/QB. And even having said that, I think by year 2, he's better than every one of those players (And no, I'm not saying he's already going to be better than a prime version of Adams, just whatever he'll be at 33 next year), and same goes for Kupp, but that's more because it seems like his body might be quitting on him in a way that hasn't happened to Adams (yet).
    • Well to be fair, Horn not practicing right now to let his stitches heal up from a car accident isn't something that should be concerning.  Sure, you don't want him missing practice leading into the season, but it's one that once healed, won't have lingering affects or fear of re-injuring it, it was just bad luck.
    • Quality backups are absolutely important. This franchise has been plagued with depth problems. That said, there is a little bit of dismay that Mays can't beat out a 1-legged man, and all the talk going into the off-season was how BC would certainly be gone since he had position versatility.  In the end, it doesn't matter too awfully much, as I would be shocked to no end if Corbett makes it through the season. We know what we have in reserve, and that should surely be better than trying to sign random fat guys mid season to try and take over.
