just thought this was interesting.  Me personally,, I have seen average height QBs have very successful careers.

Being tall certainly is an advantage, but we have seen some tall QBs fail miserably and some other QBs shorter than the norm do very well.

Does he maybe wish he had a couple of extra inches of height?  Sure.

But strictly speaking, is he too short?  No.

Talent overcomes the lack of height, at least to a point.  Flutie was the most extreme example I can think of, at least in terms of height.

this line from the article makes me think no....

Still, on a per-pass level, Mayfield's 2.46 percent passes batted down mark is the second-highest rate in the league among the 30 quarterbacks that have attempted at least 1,000 passes since 2018. The only quarterback with a higher percentage over that span is 6'5" Cam Newton at 2.56 percent.

In terms of most passes batted down per game, Mayfield's 1.04 average is the fifth highest since 2018 behind Minnesota's Kirk Cousins (6'3"), Ryan and Arizona's Kyler Murray (5'10").

Flutie overcame his height disadvantage with his other great abilities. And also copious amounts of Flutie Flakes.

Seriously though, where you throw from, how well you see the field and the trajectory of your passes have a lot more to do with this sort of thing than height.

Remember those flatline passes Jimmy Clausen always used to throw?

I recall Cam throwing down and into the back of lineman countless times, but then the passes that just got through were unbelievable throws.

Doesn't matter because we should be drafting another one this draft and until we find our long term guy.

Seriously, he is good enough to score some points. It's the third QB chosen by these people. IDNGAF about excuses or imperfections at this point. Make it work or fug off.

Careful. You will get flamed by our resident baker is our Brees posters

IDGAF. Baker is who he always has been, better than we have had but not good enough. I'll laugh at those people like I laughed at Teddy is a Franchise QB and Sam is the future people. I'm not going to fault someone for hope but being silly is open season.
