Is Baker Mayfield too sort.

if you are short and not in the Drew Brees School of QB then you are doing it wrong.

Thats why Baker sucks. He know where near Brees and Brees didnt have no where near the arm strength Baker has.

Brees is the standard when it comes to short QB and pocket play. Mayfield sucks within the pocket and cant see over his linemen thus he has to leave the pocket for throwing lanes. Baker also has average mobility, so needing a short QB with average mobility who depends on throwing outside the pocket to find throwing lanes is a recipe for disaster.

I expect Baker to be benched sometime when Darnold returns

I've watched Baker a lot.  He's gone through some pretty amazing stretches of football, and then gone through some awful stretches.  His inconsistency probably has a lot to do with the myriad of different systems in his short career as well as suffering through what should have been season ending injuries last year.  My sense is that he looks like a promising (old) young QB who just hasn't taken it to that next level yet.  I think having passes batted down and comfort in the pocket is all part of that.  And I have no idea what kind of progress we'll get from him this season.  Ideally he would get 2 healthy seasons in the same system at some point in his career.  Carolina probably does not have the short term stability or patience to go through the growing pains and get to a 2nd season either.

Flutie was in fact not a baller

Dude has his own breakfast cereal.  He was, in fact, a baller.  At least for a couple seasons.

Hes got one of the craziest, most unique careers of all time.  College legend, wins the Heisman, plays in the NFL until hes 27.  Then he goes an becomes a Canadian Football League legend - when he left the CFL he was the all time career leader in passing yards (41,355) and TDs (270).  Then he returns to the NFL at the ripe old age of 36, has a couple successful seasons as the Bills starting QB, and manages to stick around the league until hes 43 years old.

    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
