"We're close"

I've been trying to keep some minuet flicker of hope for this season, but our guys look like they're over it. There's just no fight in them, and that shows a lack of faith in the direction Rhule is driving them. You can see it between plays, they just look defeated in the 1st quarter. The team leaders that are still trying are fighting an uphill battle right now trying to rally the team, and it just sucks. We had such a good window of opportunity to take the division back when Brees/Brady did/about to retire, Sean Payton gone and now Matt Ryan too. 3 years to build, but it's hard to keep the torch lit.

I bet Beane and McDermott are eating steaks right now and enjoying how much we messed up letting them walk. "Sometimes the answer is on your roster" was right with them. It's a damn shame.

Hurney said the same thing the first time he was fired.

it’s just a way of saying an embattled coach/FO person watches tape all day and the fans/press don’t. “you can’t tell what’s actually happening out there.”

Except everyone watches tape now. And every jabroni on Twitter can fire up all-22 and see how poorly these players are coached.

Does he remember when they then went 2-7 after the three game streak?

It's a theme around here.  Both Rhule seasons have featured teams that were 3-2 after five games.  Both Rhule teams have gone on to win only two more in each season.

I'm terrified history may repeat itself.  We claw our way to 3-2 giving Rhule some relief from the hot seat.

😞

I am not sure I see three straight wins against the Saints, Cards and 49ers. Even at home.

I can't look at what we do as a team and say that it makes me have any confidence against those three head coaches. Especially Shanahan.

    • I can't tell you what other's expect from him before they will start believing in him. I think for some, they will never be able to overcome his size. I think that is the fundemental problem for them which means they will never be happy with him behind center. For others, it seems he will have to be in the top 10% in pretty much every catagory and do that all seaon for them to start believing in him. Not everyone of course. There are people on this board that, while have doubts, can still acknowledge his good plays and are willing to give him another season. Those folks I would assume just want consistency - and wins. I could be off on all the above but that's kind of how I see it. And while you didn't ask, I will say I'm glad they picked up his 5th year option. He earned it. I do not think he should be signed to a long term contract yet. I do think he will develope in a franchise QB and will get the Panthers back into the playoffs and win them but I know I could be wrong. Next year will be the big test. If the offense continues to improve and they get back to the playoffs because of the offense, it will be time to sign him long term. If it's a repeat of this year, then it's time to look elsewhere for a QB. Like I said though, I believe he can be the guy so would be surprised if he doesn't make it.
    • Well since I am so biased, why don’t you tell us what he has to do to earn the trust of everyone that doubts him? If you say he has already done it, we really will never agree.
    • Also, do you think it a bit odd that the media has ignored it? Maybe they haven’t. But I am not aware of it being written or talked about.
