Somewhat. Jimmy Clausen had this "flatline" trajectory to a lot of his throws that made them easier to bat down (or intercept).

With the defense we have now, how great would it be to have Bridgewater and Joe Brady back.

Baker's doing a lot of not good  things here that he didn't do in cleveland and we're performing worse than with just about any other QB in at least a decade. 

i'm beginning to think this just wasn't a good match.

...with the first five coming in a game against his former coach.

Stefanski knew the problem in Cleveland and schemed to minimize it. When Mayfield came here, Stefanski knew exactly how to exploit it.

Unfortunately, I think that first game showed other coaches how to do it too.

Our coaching staff can't work to accentuate Mayfield's strengths. How in the hell are they supposed to be able to understand how to minimize his weaknesses?

We so desperately need professional coaching. It's bad all across the board. It's so bad we, as a fanbase, were happy to see the return of Wilks... who was a bad coach and a terrible HC.

Compare his release time to tape of Corral or damn near any starter in the NFL. It's painful.

This seems to be the most logical reason for the number of batted passes. Arizona obviously saw something from the Cleveland game and looked to take advantage of it. Baker’s timing is pretty consistent when he makes a decision to commit to the throw. Arizona was trying to block the passes all game but didn’t get the timing figured out until the second half.

One thing to consider, is his poker face the problem?  In other words, is the other team able to tell by looking at Mayfield’s reactions?  I am not sure I am explaining my suspicions, sometimes the other team picks up information by looking at QB body movements, etc.

or sometimes the qb just fuging sucks

      I think people forget that by his last season Steve Smith had the ass and he played like it - and for no really good reason other than that other stars were emerging on the team and he didn't want to share the spot light.  He was more of a locker room distraction than he was worth. He went on to have great performances with the Ravens' but G-man made the right move allowing him to move on from here.  I personally think it was addition by subtraction and we don't have a super bowl run with Smith on the roster. Steve Smith remains a narcissist who I've never seen internalize his own culpability when it comes to his relationships with others - it's always somebody else's fault as to why he was forced to act like an asshole. This video is a product ad.  I'm cringed that either of these two Panther greats are party to it.

      I think the ‘issue’ here is that we had two guys that clashed for several reasons. In some ways they were different, but in other ways they had a lot in common, and sadly they couldn’t see the forest for the trees. Sometimes when you have two people like that together they are either going to love or hate each other, and if it’s the latter, you need someone to mediate and hope the two individuals are capable of putting their differences aside for the common good. In this instance, they couldn’t find a way to move forwards together because I don’t think either guy wanted to play second fiddle to the other. This video basically said neither guy had the tools to bridge that gap and mend that fence, and perhaps also were unwilling to give an inch at that stage in their lives and careers. So a divorce, while unfortunate, was always likely. Do we win the Super Bowl with Smitty and Cam? Well, it’s one of life’s big what ifs for us Panthers fans.

      Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
