Burns is the new Rhule

More the new Robbie than the new Rhule, but it's not even that either.

Anyway, if you actually read the responses, it's not really hate. Many are just explaining why we should have traded him, and use sound rationale to support that opinion. The "hate" that I've seen is for Fitterer (and by extension, Tepper) for not trading Burns.

Hate? Noone hates him you goof. He's overrated sure but I've seen no hate. Unless you consider anything short of licking his ass hate?

Yup, anything not overtly positive is often lumped into the 'hate' category by a few folks.

tied for 14th in sacks

We should have taken the deal and tried not to laugh out loud until the nfl processed it

I’m really surprised at how many fans overrate the crap out of Brian Burns. Years of being garbage will do that to a fanbase, desperate to cling to any decent player. He’s not worth what the Rams offered it’s just that simple!

We let Riddick walk for nothing and he is a better edge. He is good and also overrated by a big chunk of this fanbase.

I’ll be honest, I love Burns and he’s quite possibly my favorite Panther over the last 3 years. That said, I was fully on board for trading him for two 1sts. That’s before I was even aware there was a 2nd involved.

I’m still hesitant to call him overreacted. I think it’s more accurate to say he’s a star player playing in the wrong system. Our defense doesn’t utilize him properly, but he’s still a damn good player for us. In a 3-4 I do believe he would be a superstar and the fact a team offered us two 1sts and a 2nd confirms that in my mind. They don’t think he’s overrated either clearly, so it’s not just our fan base. But we are in a rebuild he doesn’t exactly fit our system like a glove. We should have jumped all over that trade in a second.

He is very good. I deleted it because it felt harsh. He isn't great unfortunately, at least not here. I agree as a 3-4 edge the tackles would go down but sacks way up. I think he also plays well at LDE but we rotate him becaude of the lack of priduction from the other players. Some here treat him like a unreplaceable player yet Riddick was just picked up for cheap and no picks was really my point.

We absolutely should have traded him for that haul and it wouldn't have had to be justified at that price.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
