So I just watched a highlight vid of our 15-1 season and thought about - What if we had Burns in his current form on that squad in the SB50? Would he be enough to flip the result?

And I thought our D would be ruthless with him but idk if he wins us the game. What player can you pick off any Panthers squad and he wins us the game? 2005 Smitty?  Still idk..

Obviously dropping Moton, Wharton or Gross on the right side might do it.. but I just thought about what 1 player might flip that game. And would it be the same for 2003?

A Right Guard would prolly do it for 2015, but what does the job for '03? Maybe Kuechly in his prime? Burns playing the other side with Pep?

Anyways - I just thought it was a good 2-beers-in conversation, lmao..

Give me anyone over Mike Remmers and we win. Literally anyone in the league at the time. fug man, now I’m upset again. It’s been 6 years and I’m still not over the fact we got robbed.

I don’t want to alarm you but it has been 7 years

Dan Morgan was no slouch. 59 was HOF good, but when healthy, 55 was really good.

I think if we had Greg Hardy available like we were supposed to for 2015 we probably would have gone undefeated and won SB 50.  He was a more complete player at the time than Burns is now. A tad less athletic maybe but much stronger in the running game and he was relentless.

Having any version of Steve Smith probably wins SB 50. He would own Talib and we might get some calls going our way for a veteran player.

Make no mistake we win if the refs don’t cheat us out of the game though . That’s the real reason we lost. Headhunting Cam for 60 minutes with no flags and the BS Cotchery call are what did us in.

Exactly. The only choices to make are RT or WR.

Yessir.

Our defense gave up two FGs in that game.  The two TDs Denver scored were 1) while they were on the sidelines watching the offense give up points, and 2) brought in to defend a 4-yard field.  The other FG was off a botched punt coverage.

No amount of additional defensive talent was going to win that game.  They throttled the Denver offense.

Now address the tackle mismatch or counter the Von Miller onslaught and give it a pause and perhaps the outcome is different.

Painful seeing in hindsight just how Gettleman botched the bag with Smitty. Terrible way of handling one of our best players ever.

Drank too much of the "Gettlemagic" kool-aid to realize how much he also destroyed the team while trying to "manage the cap."

What could've been...and what could've been had we fixed our mistakes against our lone falcons loss and prepared for those green dog blitz'. Going against a legitimate secondary with no WR open made it hell for Cam to do much of anything.

I'm still mad about 2017 too and our loss against the Saints. If Funchess tracked that ball we win and could've had an incredible run too with how Cam was playing. Damn perfect game from Newton but wasn't enough.

The talent we wasted those years, I'll never forgive this franchise for squandering it.

A disgrace we couldn't get Cam Newton, Ryan Kalil, Greg Olsen, Thomas Davis, and Luke Kuechly a ring in 2015.
