If you are GM of the team…do you re sign Foreman to a long term deal?

He’s nothing special all he’s getting is volume with a solid Oline

Define special?

He is a solid running back who can move the pile and pick up the tough yards better than any rb we have had since Jonathan Stewart.   We should not break the bank for him, but signing him for about 4 million a year (which would put him around 20th in rb pay) for 3 years or so, wouldn't be a bad deal

That would be a terrible deal when you can draft a RB in the third that can help in all 3 facets of the game is younger more explosive and cheaper

You think you're going to find a 250 pb horse who can step in like this in the 3rd round? The only reason the Titans let him go is because they have a bigger horse.

That's $10 million a year for what would likely be a 1,100 to 1,300 yard rusher who is a tank

That's never played a full season and has had injury issues. And was considering retiring before this season.

I don't think that's a bad investment.

Thank goodness you're not a GM

In order to get paid more than an average running back, you need to be able to do more in an offense built around using all a RB talents like CMC in SF. We don't have that here. Would need to see some massive upgrades at the OC position to consider paying him more than JAG salary. I'd have no issue giving him a 3 year contract for 3-4m per if he was used like CMC, Ekeler, Saquan, or others in the passing game, but he's not. Alexander Mattison is someone I would rather target if we were going to spend money on a RB, and even then it would be 2 or 3 year at 2.5-3.

keep him if possible. no low ball disrespect offer  but let him test market. 2-3 years market value and add a later round RB rookie to fill the gaps if he gets injured.  is Blackshear around for a bit or is a 1 year rental? if so he is another guy to offer a deal but not crazy money. going into next season with Chubba, Foreman and Blackshear with a young guy with a chip on his shoulder for not being drafted earlier would be the way to go.  we really can't afford to use a high pick on RB with all the other needs.

If we don't pay him what he wants, he'll go to someone who will pay. He's not going to take the vet minimum or a team friendly deal just to stay in Carolina.

Whereupon we will sign one of the literally hundreds of players capable of getting 4 to 5 ypc behind a solid offensive line and save our cap space to pay guys like Horn and Burns, who's skill sets are far rarer and matter far more to winning. Oh and that Oline. You pay your Oline if they're good and then you can plug in Kermit the Frog at RB and do just fine.

I like D'onta Freeman.

I liked CMC.

You don't pay running backs in the modern NFL if you want to win.

    • Okay then, tell me what your expectations are for Thielen, XL, and Coker this year If someone wants to come out there and say they think Thielen is only getting 600-700 yards this year, then yea, I'm going to then expect T-Mac to get to 1,000. If someone wants to say they think XL or Coker is going to fall back to 300 yards this year, then yea, I'm going to expect T-Mac to get to 1,000. People seem to think I'm making excuses for why T-Mac can't get there, but it's the literal opposite, my expectations for him stem from my belief our other WRs for the first time in who knows how long.   We finally have a legitimate and full WR room, not sure that's happened since the Smitty and Moose days.  It's going to make them all better players, but it will also suppress all of their stats as they're all going to cannibalize each other a little bit.
    • It’s certainly not my shining moment. But I still made it. Running the Sacramento marathon in December and hope to have a more Jake Delhomme-level of stardom there. The Everyman that overcomes obstacles to almost reach the pinnacle of success only to have it taken away by Adam Vinateri.
