You really don’t get stuff sometimes. $12M a year is elite C money. I’m sorry, I like Bozeman but he’s not elite. You can’t say oh, good DTs like Heyward negate Bozeman easily and we have 21 yards rushing after the Steelers got torn up for almost 400 yards rushing the prior two weeks and then legitimately say Bozeman is worth paying top C money. There are only 5 Cs that make more than $12M a year. They have all been to the pro bowl.

It’s like when some of us didn’t like Robby’s extension or Donte’s extension or Thomas’ extension. I like Bozeman better than all of those but $12M a year would be an over pay because he’s not that level. I will say that I’d rather overpay on Bozeman than the others we overpay that aren’t even average starters.

I wouldn’t sign Bozeman and draft a 2nd round C, it would be either or. Also, I said 2nd rounder because that tends to be an ideal spot to find centers.  It’s where we got Ryan Kalil. It’s where we could have gotten McCoy or any number of solid Gs instead of trading up for Little. It’s where we could have gotten Humphrey, an elite cheap C, instead of Marshall. Maybe you aren’t aware of this, but the 2nd round is a great place to get the top talent at positions like C, G, S, RB and LB  because they aren’t the premium positions that get pushed into the 1st round.

Maybe your OK with signing everyone to over market contracts because as a top tier Panther fan you’re OK with that. Some of us want to sign good contracts because we know this team is still 5-9 and we need better players to compete and paying $60M a year for Bozeman, Thomas, Burns and Donte may not the best approach.

We have a history of overpaying to keep FA's. Robby, D-Jax, Ian Thomas, are recent examples of that. We paid McCaffrey early and he got hurt right after that.

We should have just kept Reddick. Bozeman, I think will take a less money to stay here, no need to break the bank on him.

Your first few sentences spelled it out rather succinctly. It's always good to open with an insult. It really grabs the readers' attention.

I sorry, but I am not ready all that just so you can play teacher.

Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Panther fans are sure something. Want to trade away one of our best players, and underpay yet another.

Bozeman is a top C, let's not go cheap on this one.

Oh, and why should we draft a C in the 2nd round, if we have Bozeman? Seems redundant to me. That means it's a stupid move.

Because a rookie doesn't cost 36mil. Not that complicated

I mean, who do we think is going to play the position if we don't sign him?  It's easy to say "he's not worth this, or that" but do we factor in we have no one else to play the position and a draft pick isn't guarantied?  We haven't had good center play since Kalil.  We may need to overpay a little because we really need the guy.  The Ravens have a really good line which is why they felt they could let him go.  We, really don't.

Exactly. Our OL made tremendous progress this season. We need to add to that, not go backward.

Ravens had the luxury to bank on a drafted replacement we don’t.

I think you could give him a longer deal for a bit less money--I have seen enough to give him a five year deal for $55m or so.  We could guarantee a bit more money than usual.  He is the type of high character guy that seems to be worth the investment (based on my limited info and hunches)

Kalil got paid and in retrospect, it was worth it.

IDK what you pay him, just keep him here. Solid player and a great person, personally and in the community. Him and his wife are always doing things for kids and families. He's a soft spoken guy who like Luke, becomes an animal on the field. We need him to stay in CLT for a while.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
