What’s so bad about Darnold?

Top 3 pick.

Still young.

Heck of an arm.

Quite mobile.

Other players like him.

Looked great last year until CMC got hurt and Joe Brady was figured out.

Yes, he looked bad at times on the Jets, but who doesn’t?

He has been historically one of the worst starting QBs in the league over his 4 plus years as a starter with different teams and OCs. Outside of that….
He was good last year until teams took away his first read and made him attempt to read a defense, in which he couldn’t do…

He can be serviceable when our OL is letting our RBs crush the other team and his attempts are limited. Like I’ve said before as a cheap backup I’m fine with him. Rolling into next year with only Sam and Corral won’t end well.

This is the only hope for the Panthers. Scripted plays in 1st quarter. Attack on offense in the 2nd quarter and run up the score. Protect the score and take your easy shots in the 3rd quarter. Run the clock down with the running game in the 4th.

The run blocking OL and speed pass rushing defense is all the Panthers have. This is the only way they win. They have to hope they do not face a rare run stopping defense. The only teams in the way of the Panthers from here on out are the 49ers and a strong run stopping defense in the SB.

The only real obstacle at this point for the Panthers getting to the SB is the trade of CMC to the 49ers. Thanks front office for your great vision of the NFL landscape. Should have took my miracle season plan I proposed in the offseason. This front office is playing checkers and not chess. Wilks is doing what he can to save the season and he knows how to use the teams strengths and cover up their weaknesses.

He'll be fine.

    • These kickers are getting so good
    • They're pretty far off, double T-Mac's stats to get to the same targets as XL and it would be 4 drops to 7.  A 3 drop difference might not sound like a lot, but it's still almost twice as many drops on the same number of targets. Not to mention, if I remember correctly, XL's drop problems last year seemed more down field, where he was dropping passes he should be making and it was clear his poor hands were there reason he dropped them. And weren't both of T-Mac's drops this year on quick hitters with blockers out in front of him?  I know at least the second one was as he was going to go for a huge play and maybe a TD on it. To me, and yes, I'd say this about any other player, those are drops because a rookie was trying to do too much in making a play before securing the catch.  Much easier to improve upon than dropping passes because you have bricks for hands and body catch more often than hands catch, like with XL. And yes, 100%, which is why I wasn't one of those people you were referring to with talking about him that way last year.  Yes, I said he had drop problems., because he did, but I didn't think they were unsolvable and expected to see great improvement this year (unfortunately not sure that happened though).
    • Every iffy call has gone the way of the Chiefs tonight, per usual. They had a TD earlier tonight that looked like obvious offensive pass interference and the flag was throw but picked up.
