  1. 1. If we hire Sean are you still a Panthers fan?

What if he comes back, gets one last payday, and then crashes and burns?

Are you going to delete your account? Or just disappear like every overconfident gatekeeping fan from here does halfway through the season.

What if the world ends tomorrow?

Rolls my eyes.

Nouveau riche dude buys the most expensive, flashy college coach he could, process fails miserably.

Nouveau riche dude then goes out and tries to buy the most expensive, flashy unemployed former NFL coach he can. It will probably work out just as badly, but this time with a huge dose of karma mixed in.

If he's hired, I won't quit the team, I'll just keep kicking that turd down the road until he is inevitably fired as well.

the only thing that i wouldn't like is having to trade picks to get him i don't want us trading picks for a player. i definitely wouldn't want us having to trade picks to get a coach, but i'll get over it.

Agree I am OUT if they gotta give up any first round picks. No thanks.

I under the picks thing.

Even then, it won't even be in the top 10 of worst decisions made by this franchise.

Man feels like yesterday half the people on the board were bitching and complaining about the saints season where they were head hunting players. Remember that? Or everyone have short term memory loss?

We remember, we also know what sport we are watching and remember it's a pretty barbaric sport that we continue to cheer on while folks have life changing injuries and even death is a possibility.

he’s a pretty safe bet and the other candidates remaining really don’t inspire me with much confidence. Steichen I like but have some concerns with.

hard to turn that down.

they gotta be prepared for what comes with it though. You give up a future 1 you better come away with a QB this draft.

if that means you have to trade Burns for a couple 1’s to move up and buy a high dollar pass rush in free agency you better do it. Can’t do half measures.

Have to cheer against him and wish noting good for him or his. Hate him as a person and love how lazy his coaching got before he helped run the Saints into the ground before retiring.

Fanhood? IDK but there would be zero hope for the team from me going forward as long as Tepper and his residue are here so I'm guessing it would cure my Panther addiction.

Meh, whatever. The NFL is just teams that are toys for their owners designed around a game of football that produce profit hand over fist. It's getting hard for me to see it for the game anymore anyways.

I'm still hoping we hire Steichen but after the Watson scare this is another huge 'let it burn for fun' kind of move to me.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

You think Fitterer wants a guy who'll take full control just like Rhule did?

Joe Person mentioned that a Payton hire could see both Fitterer and Dan Morgan sent packing.

You up for that?

I know Fitt is heading up this head coaching search. And he's going to give his seal of approval,  or step down.

Sorry if I don't buy your conspiracy theory.

    • Who is "they"?  Who in the media still argues that Bryce Young could reach the levels that people thought he would before the draft? I mean, nobody is going to come outright and bash the kid.  By all accounts he's a good dude and I think that is why you don't see the media come after him like they did Zach Wilson.
    • It started during the Denver game after that first drive. i don’t think the panthers got a first down again until the fourth quarter.
    • The Panthers will finish with at least 7-8 wins.  So that leaves them with only two "smart" choices in my opinion: 1. Sign a reasonably priced free agent QB and see if they are better than Bryce Young in training camp - The issue is there will be very little options.  There is almost no way the Colts let Daniel Jones walk.  Rodgers, Flacco, and Wilson will likely retire (and is Wilson better than Bryce anyway?).  Winston is under contract with the Giants for another year.  That leaves Mariota, which I'm all for, but the Commanders will make a big push to keep him given Daniels' injury history.  Outside of him, there is literally nobody else. 2. Stick with Bryce Young for one more year - Nobody wants this to happen, but the Panthers won't be in a position to draft one in the first round and it isn't a strong class to begin with.  Mendoza, Simpson (and do we really want an Alabama QB?), and Moore will likely all be off the board by the time we pick.  Bryce isn't good, but we are still 5-4.  I'd rather continue to build the rest of the team than reach for a QB.  Then we could set ourselves up nicely in 2027 to make a splash play if we choose.  This is how we should have approached years past; stuck with Kyle Allen or Sam Darnold or Teddy Bridgewater and kept building the team until we were ready to make a splash.  But every year we panicked and did something stupid. There is the idea you could throw a dart at a guy in the later arounds, but IMO this just isn't a good QB class and odds are it will be a wasted pick.  I still think we need a lot of depth on the defense.  I'd rather focus there.
