Anyone with football knowledge know McDermott was the true reason behind most of the success on the defensive side. And he didn't learn from Rivera. Ken Dorsey didn't because he was offensive which Rivera don't even know well. That's why Rivera always said he couldn't answer offensive questions like that and left it up to his OC.

So you're unfamiliar with Ron's success in San Diego and Chicago as the DC, or early in McD career when Ron had to handle play calling - https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/17/sean-mcdermott-lands-on-his-feet-in-carolina/

Either y'all young or just don't care to keep up with how things actually happened here over the years.

Rivera groomed McD and helped him become who he is as a coach.

You can't take that away because "Ron was too conservative".

If you can't use a search button on your own, then that's not my problem.

Once again, I don't care enough to waste my time proving to you who I am.

I know who I am.

The only time you ever quote me is to call me out anyways, so you're always have an agenda with me.  You need to stop trying to tell.me.who I am.

Who needs a search button? I didn’t make any claim except your are a complete homer. Every post is my proof. You said you had many time’s documented, somewhere, so just find a couple.

We all know who you are, as well…

what do I call you calling me, or anyone else, who doesn’t join in the echo chamber all the time, as people that don’t understand anything? Or just trolls? I call out your complete BS. Just like we did here once again. But I’m so glad you like you. 👍

I read it from Darin Gantt.  I swore it was in ask the old guy, but it might have been else where.

I don't get caught up in keeping links of information I find intriguing.  Not sure why anyone would assume I'm talking out my ass.

Take me for my word, or don't.  I don't go around blowing smoke.

To be fair, of course hes going to say hes got big plans for the offense.   What else is he going to say when trying to get a job.

Read more than one of the sentences I wrote to see how Wilks was in a slightly different position.

What you wrote doesn't matter because you don't get it. The NFCS sucked. Whomever won the division gets to go to the Playoffs ... and none deserved it. So who gives a poo that Wilks could have snuck us in. And the three names I mentioned are just as average as Wilks, so they are all in the same boat. But keep talking Wilks up like he did some sort of miracle.

I don’t understand. Is taking over a 1-4 dumpster fire irrelevant to you? Not picking his coaching staff?

Wilks isn’t my prefered choice, but let’s not ignore context and pretend his situation was the same as the other HC’s in the division.

You act like Rhule put this team in the most impossible situation in the history of pro sports. We had the same players. Same coaches. Whatever Wilks changed up worked to show he was better than Rhule, but that's it. Going 6-6 is still average. It makes me think that you think if he was here from day one we'd have gone like 12-5 or something crazy. Wilks is average. Face it. He's better than Rhule, if that's what you want to hear ... but the Panthers have always been average sans a year or three ... and we need to strive for more than just average.

Evidently you don't read much of outside of here. Cool.

As for details, nobody knows the details, but those inside of the teams that have inside knowledge have gone on record that Wilks has a strong plan.

No HC candidate is publicly laying out their plan, so not sure what you expect to prove here, other than, "Wilks is a conservative defensive minded coach."

It amazing how every defensive minded coach is considered conservative,  despite the evidence of their defenses never being conservative.

This is your post  Information is easily available that he has a very strong plan when it comes to the offense.

So I ask again, whats the plan?

Wilkes would need to have a great offensive slate lined up as well as be willing to upgrade the defensive coordinator position.  I wonder if he was cautious by necessity more than desire.  Not going for it on 4th and short could mean you don't have confidence in the offense as much as it suggests lack of cajones. Also remember that we were very depleted in staff on the defensive side so there was not sufficient time to really gameplan and make adjustments from week to week let alone in-game. You can argue that Wilkes fired them so it was his fault but you could argue that getting the results he did was pretty great with a depleted staff and should improve with better coordinators. I could see us go 10-7 with a good OC and QB

Who's he bringing with him?

DC - Rumored to be Holcomb. Nope.

OC - Rumored to be Brian Johnson. Great hire....probably a HC in two years.

If we want experience, go with Payton. If we want our OC poached in two years and have a mediocre record with spikes of excitement sprinkled in, go with Wilkes.

Love Wilkes the man....prefer not to be our HC.

I'm 39 years old so yes I knew this already. It does not mean McDermott did learn much under Rivera. But not all his coaching abilities came from him. He was under Andy Reids coaching tree.

Thank you! It drives me crazy when folks add a "E" in his name... I mean, if you are going to be a Wilks nut hugger, can you at least spell his name right???
