The Jury is still out on Fields, but the Bears would be insane to dump him at this point, especially if the plan is to draft Young.  Better off trading the pick for more picks, stock up on talent, and give fields another year or two.

Exactly!!! Build the team more!! Otherwise  they'd be setting Young up for even more failure!! The bonus if having Fields is that he extends plays because  they lack weapons. Young is a good pocket passer but  they have way too many holes right now.

I've never seen the media / league / fans try to push a player more than Fields. People want him to be a star so badly and it ain't gonna happen.

Define “star” and where do you see it being pushed? He’s already better than anything we have trotted out on the field the last five years or so and he’s done it despite poo coaching and poor playmakers and no offensive line around him. And he’s shown flashes of being a major playmaker. They had a five week stretch averaging 30 offensive points a game. We haven’t had that kind of stretch since 2015 Cam.

There’s a difference between thinking the kid is progressing and can be good vs thinking he’s some star.

Not everything needs to be hate or love, 10 or 1, best or worse. There’s plenty of space in the middle. It’s weird to see this kind if take from a Levis fan.

Lol my oh my has Tepper and Rhule’s dumbassery rubbed off on fans…thinking there is so sort of cheat code and we just need to make the right trade lmao

if we wanted fields we should’ve drafted him but now you want to add two seconds to what we would’ve given? What in the blood hell

NO.

draft a qb already, that is the best way forward

I agree with you.  When people look at QB's, if a QB is anything but ELITE, they are a bust.  Honestly, there is nothing wrong with being mid if you have the team build around them.  With the way QB's are eating up cap space, I'd rather pay mid level salary at QB for a QB who falls around #12 - 20 in QB rankings if that means I have two top level players at other positions of impact.  Not every QB is Mahomes or Burrow.

they want him to be playing this weekend. face of the league. like Mahomes, Hurts, Burrow. Every comment section everywhere, every media outlet, every fan on here that wanted to draft him.

yeah, he's had some way more exciting plays than Darnold and PJ walker I guess. A lot of mfers have.

he's in the same boat as Trey Lance, Zach Wilson to me. hasn't proven he can be a winner in this league and is being considered to be replaced already.

Just my opinion, I am sick of taking teams retreads - I wouldn't want him. I want my own guy that can learn from our coaches from day one and grow from there. Throw him to the wolves and see if he can win in this league. I think Levs has the traits to learn and win in this league. I hope we draft him, I would be stoked on Stroud too but doesn't look possible.

If someone were to trade a 1st for Fields than that GM needs to be fired.  I've been up and down on Fields but he has shown flashes.  If they are ready to draft Young and let Fields, go than they are saying he's not an NFL caliber QB and IMO not worthy of a 1st round pick to trade with.

If the Bears were truly ready to move on from Fields than our 49er 2nd round pick would be all I would offer. Reich is a QB guru so if anyone can make him a star QB than it's Reich.

Like many of you, i don't want to do the retread on a QB anymore.  We've done that the last 3 seasons and we are 0 for 3.

The way this is shaping up these 3 QBs are going to be gone very early in this draft.  The Panthers could absolutely be caught with their pants down with no option to draft a QB.  Sucks

I'm still of the belief that unless one of the top 3 falls to us, we re-sign Darnold for another year or find another patch for this season and then trade whatever is necessary next year to move up for a QB.  Or actually, I'd still draft Hooker in the 4th this year and let him and Corral battle it out next year to see if either has potential to be the guy.

Next year's QB class is supposed to be significantly better than this year, if we're going to be trading multiple future first rounders, there isn't a QB in this year's draft that feels safe enough to do that for, there are multiple in next year's draft that it would be worth the risk for.

    • I get it's subjective and I said "PFF rated him as" one of the top deep ball passers during that time, which is an accurate statement.  They are still a group of professionals that look at film and data in order to make their judgements/ratings.  These people whose data has been incorporated into a lot of teams' staffs view Bryce's deep throws as some of the best in the league during that stretch.  That tells me that he can probably throw a deep pass vs the Huddle's version of he is small and didn't do it his rookie year so he must not be able to.  That and literally seeing him do it just makes me feel he is more than capable of doing so.   Do you think PFF is skewing their opinion to prop up a QB in a bottom tier franchise?  It's just another group's opinion and I feel is pretty respected around the league currently.  It's not the gospel truth or anything.
    • I still remember how happy I was that gettlegut was not the GM once he picked Jones, that was a firing pick and well..... If not for the raiders drafting Clelin Ferrell, it was the biggest draft day mistake in the last 20 some years.
    • He had 251 passing yards. 3 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns. All in all a very impressive game. Problem is I do not envision his rushing ability translating like that over the course of the upcoming season. Yeah it will be something to account for from time to time but one it's not sustainable and two you don't want to put his durability to the ultimate test against a motivated defender willing to take a penalty and a fine. And plus with our backfield. Two 1k yard rushers. That's what they're here for. Then we have a much improved WR room. That means Bryce has to elevate those passing numbers substantially. The fact of the matter is regardless of circumstances it did take him 23 games to surpass Kyle Allen's single season passing yardage from 13 games in 2020. And that is not a high bar by any means. Whatever QB tier Bryce ends up in from here amongst his peers this upcoming season when it's all said and done it will be with his arm.
