IF you think he is the guy.  Will have other teams thinking...will they? he is not going to give anything away...much too smart.

Also

we have the OL, we have the defense in place.  We have the stuff in place to put in that guy

Trade up to #3 with Arizona then trade up to #1 was the most plausible scenario I've seen. Ain't no way in hell can you get #1 when every other team bidding has a better pick than you.

This is supposedly what approximates the pick values NFL teams have used recently: https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart-Rich-Hill.asp?RequestTeam=car

Based on this, Arizona's #3 pick is worth 514 points. A "fair/even" trade would be our first and the 49ers 2nd (#61) and 3rd round (#93) picks (515 points). That would leave us with #3 for a QB and #39 for an edge rusher/WR/S (along with the rest of our picks).

That said, seems like trading up into the top 3 tends to carry a premium rather than just what would be "fair/even", so may have to part with the higher of the 2nds or do #9 and #93 and next year's first instead.

Well we are gonna have to bite the bullet eventually.

Yeah.  This team has not exactly gone places except the NFL Cellar and with next-to-zero results.

Time to put all our chips on the table and just go for it.

We suffer a bit for the present in order to have a better future.

I dont have the conviction about giving up at least 3 ones for any of these dudes

I mean, I think I can name 2 in the last 2 decades I would have felt comfortable giving up the farm for.

but we have been in QB hell so long I can make an exception.  Probably just cool w/ Stroud though.   I wouldn't like giving up a bunch for the other guys.

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
