Gantt indicates the Panthers should bring in Carr

They’ll trade him where he wants to go.  Similar to Stafford to Rams.

Nope.

They don't have to trade him at all, and per reports that option is on the table.

Now you could suggest that a ridiculous offer might change their mind, but we're not making that kind of offer...nor should we.

We need to be heavily into the Carr interest, especially early on, if for nothing else to drive up the price.

He's a good guy and a good QB, and if we could have him for the right price, he'd be great here. We won't be able to get him for the right price, though, so we should do our best to make sure whichever one of the NFCSouth teams snags him, that there's a nice, hefty contract that will richly reward him and hamstring them for the next four to five years.

The one consistent observation that I have with Carr is that I think if they're given a chance to talk, he and Frank Reich would probably really hit it off.

It'd be a stretch to say that means he'll wind up here as there are loads of other factors to consider, but hey...

Aaron Rodgers doesn't have a no-trade clause, but he has to approve of any deal because if he doesn't like where he's traded, he can just say we will retire, and any team trading for him will want to know that detail before any actual trade is approved. So, it's an effective no-trade clause, even if it's not an official one.

As for them not trading him if he wants to be traded, sure they can hold him hostage, but that would be dumb on their part because they won't get any compensation for him, and they'll likely end up paying him 60 mil to do nothing.

I have nothing against Derek Carr personally

he is an average nfl qb  and seems like a decent guy

and it is true he played for franchise killer, McDaniels, but he has done nothing to warrant $40 million a year or multiple years plus   Let someone else grab that bait

 He is not worth it

draft the qb they want. Have a bridge qb for six games, 10 games, the year.who is competent like Brisset and move on

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
