dead driver of the other vehicle reported blood alcohol concentration = .197, over double the limit. I have not seen any reports on Carters blood level.

I saw a report the he did not have alcohol in his system at the time. How the knew that after he left the scene I do not know. Unless the officer tracked him down within a half hour of the wreck.

I hadn't followed the story closely but would they even have been able to get a blood alcohol reading on him since he reportedly fled the scene?

Depends on how soon they found him.  Considering the BAC of the deceased I would assume if he were drinking with them it would be detected in his system more than a couple of hours later.  If he had very little to drink it probably wouldn't show up an hour later.

Alcohol metabolizes at a predictable rate.  Just because they cant/didnt test on the scene doesnt mean they cant make a determination hours later.

Where is stated that he was tested?  Reports I have read says "didn't appear to be drinking" by....Athens police.  You don't think the cops knew who he was? Unless they took him to the hospital for a BA or toxicology test, I call BS on this one. He just got to go home after he admitted that he lied to the cops and two people were dead.

My comment was more to the general notion that you dont have to blow at the scene or have blood drawn immediately for a medical professional to say that 8 hours ago your BAC was at X.XX.

Dont know the particulars of Jalen's situation and didnt mean to put forth info that was specific to this case

This behavior was such a stupid decision by everyone involved.  Unfortunately it was also very tragic.  Even if he somehow gets out of this with minimum legal consequences (and I do not think he should), do not see how any team could trust this guy.

Leaving the scene?????  He was drinking (my opinion)...and had no concern for his friends.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
