LOL how is this a mess?  Nothing has even happened yet, and all indications are saying we are going to be extremely aggressive to get our guy.

It's a mess because we are about to trade even more assets away for someone who may or may not be worthwhile. Add to that we may be trying to trade with a Conference foe who already has a QB and we could just be mortgaging our future to look up at them. We have a solid QB and can't add talent around them.

That's the trade-off and why I'd rather trade down, stack talent, and work on getting enough picks to take Maye or Williams next year. You can stack, stack, stack talent on days 1 and 2 in this draft but we are going to avoid doing that to take a guy like Will Levis.

I'd be good with Anthony Richardson, though not trading up much to get him, or Stroud. The recent history on teams who have traded up for QB's isn't pretty, at all. None of them since 2015 are on the team that drafted them.

Again, getting to 1 isn’t a for sure thing. There are no FA QB’s available that are the answer long term. Fitterer isn’t in a position to sit and wait come draft night

I’m all for throwing picks at Chicago until they say yes because it’s time so don’t think I’m against any of this I’m just telling you the pickle we’re in and the pressure Fitterer is under to deliver

Yeah I agree. I dont think Fitt is waiting till draft night to make a move. He needs to secure that plan WELL before the draft.

So if the Ravens decide to match the contract, does he have to sign it? I get that they can match what he agrees to with another team, but if they decide to match can't he just refuse to sign? This is assuming he is done with Baltimore and wants out.

If we do end up at 1 I believe most of the mock trades floating around with pick compensation going to Chicago will seem very light versus what we actually give up

League MVP without a deal.

He was an MVP 4 years ago and he’s pretty much performed worse in every statistical category each year since then and hasn’t played a full season since 2020. I don’t really get the narrative. Hard pass on trading 2 firsts plus the contract. I’d be down for signing him to the right deal if he were a free agent, but he’s not.

If we cannot get Stroud or CJ then I would be ok with a trade down and running with Corall... and Jimmy our way to a QB next year.

That said.. I dont think anyone on that building would want that. We are getting a QB this year one way or another.

He'd have to have signed it for them to match it.

They have a week to decide.

If Baltimore matches a deal I'm not convinced that Lamar will accept it and go back to Baltimore.  No team wants a player that doesn't want to be there and you certainly don't want to pay this player a mega contract.

It's not exactly the Steelers' MO but I'd love to see him go to a division rival via the non-exclusive tag. Obviously the Browns and Bengals are set at QB so Pittsburgh is the only option there.

I think he winds up getting much less of a market than he hoped for and he goes back to the Ravens for a somewhat reasonable (not fully guaranteed) contract. Either way I hope like hell we don't even bother with exploring this. Regardless of the contract (which will have to be ridiculous to snatch him away) I don't want to give up 2 firsts for a QB who won't even be healthy come playoff time and who averages like 2500 passing yards a season

    • I hope Horn can stay healthy. (I have his jersey.) He is an elite talent when he is healthy. What’s the plan though, do we roll with Horn and a 5th round pick? Are we going to sign Gilmore? This has to be our worst position based off of the injury concerns.
    • Duffy:  (Scheme fit)  Player Summary: This fifth year Tackle will be looking to start for his third full season. He has a thick base, and a tight yet chunky midsection, carrying more of a Guards frame. He plays with a fast twitch using his quick feet, making him quick off the snap, fast to the 2nd level, showing good recovery potential. His foot movement bolsters his sturdy lower body which he uses to drive defenders out of their gaps or effectively turn them, as well as stalemating some of the stronger lineman. Additionally, it allows him to quickly arrive and seal a pull or trap. On second level blocks he is dangerous, once he lays his body on the defender, they are rendered ineffective. In zone blocks, he quickly crosses the defenders’ shoulders and can kick out with relative ease. Christian plays with fire and pride in pass pro, competing hard to the whistle. He possesses a solid Anchor that holds up when he is out maneuvered and stands firm against bull rushes holding up with formidable leverage.   His slow turn ability in pass pro, allows rushers to arc to the QB. This also affects blitzers or delayed rushers coming from either side as he struggles to pick up the second rusher, opening a quick path to the backfield. He struggles to adjust to defenders throughout the game, causing mistakes to constantly repeat. His biggest weakness is with UOH, and wide hand placement. This affects EVERY facet of his game. On run plays and screens, while he is quick to the defender and provides a successful initial pop, it is often negated by his ability to maintain the block, allowing LB’s to fight off blocks before the ball carrier arrives. In pass pro, he is a decently executed move away from giving up his outside shoulder exposing a short path to the QB, and loss of the ability to mirror.  Scheme Fit: Zone Scheme with quick passes in an RPO/Possession, or heavy run Offense   Dyson Jr. (small school sleeper)
    • That Lawrence draft was suppose to be great. He is the only QB from the 1st still with his team before the rookie contracts are even over.  I definitely wouldn’t want Bo Nix, Penix has injury flags and is old, Daniels didn’t look great into year 5, JJ wasn’t asked to do much in that offense. These guys are far from being flawless prospects. Let’s see how they turn out.
