JOE PERSON: Panthers will not pursue Lamar Jackson

This is concerning for collusion

Not really. Just because the Browns made a bad deal doesn't mean the rest of the NFL has to do it. The price for Lamar is 2 1sts and a likely fully guaranteed salary. It's very possible that teams don't want to pay that price or go through the entire negotiation process just to have the Ravens match it and be done. It really could be that simple.

I dunno if it’s so much collusion as it is smart. It would be foolish to give a 250mil fully guaranteed contract to an injury prone QB, especially with having to give up two firsts to make that mistake. If he was a FA I’d absolutely be down for negotiating and trying to sign him. No to big money + two firsts though.  And that’s probably what most teams are thinking.

Teams don't want to give huge guaranteed money to a guy with injury concerns.

Jackson overplayed his hand, besides likely making a huge mistake by not hiring an agent.

Is it?  A decade ago for sure it would be, before the twitter verse.

Today, every team without a QB or in need of an upgrade has likely been asked by dozens of sports reporters (in a matter of moments) if they intend to pursue Lamar.  Is it surprising that they are cool to the idea, knowing what we know when it comes to salary, picks and injury concerns?

Chances are Jackson is going to ultimately sign with the Ravens after further discussions.  That's the best course of action for both parties

FWIW Scot and Nanuq still believe that Lee Harvey Oswald owned magic bullets and that Jimmy Hoffa just really wanted some peace and quiet...

No owner is going to want to pay full guarantees to an injury prone quarterback. That's like an owner of a company saying you can have unlimited paid sick days. It would just be insane, which is why the Browns are the Browns.

The Bat signal has been sent up!!

This is a coordinated market correction being implemented infront of all of us..

Lamar is about to be made a example…

But all it takes is 1 Hasslem to go against his boys and be willing to take the cold shoulder that will come from stepping out of line…

Lets see what happens…

Or one Davis...

Chicago has the cap space.  They should negotiate a trade of Fields for Lamar.  It would instantly make the Bears more competitive and the Ravens would have another young QB to develop.  Something they seem to be good at doing.

That'd be interesting.

Probably not likely but it'd be interesting to watch.

He doesn’t deserve a fully guaranteed contract.  That being said, we are stupid if we aren’t calling and offering 45M per year with at least half the total contract guaranteed.  Sure, the Ravens would likely match the offer.  But you gotta friggin try.  Jackson makes this a team that can compete for a SB next season

That's less than he already turned down

    • I actually put the money I cashed out on City to win outright. Arsenal just looks completely uninterested.  Which kind of ties into to what their manager has been saying, that they were going to focus on winning the EPL and be less worried about cups and tournaments.
    • Gonna be interesting to watch. All reporting indicates he's gonna be out. From what I'm hearing he's out. The interesting part will be what happens next. The job has been staying within the "family" since Dean retired. But there's no one within the family that makes any sense at all right now. They'll have to go outside the family to hire a coach that's likely to be successful and tension between the school and the basketball family is already high right now with this plot to move the arena to Carolina North because the folks within the basketball family want it to stay at the Dean Dome and they feel misled because they feel like there was never any real consideration of revamping the Dean Dome and this whole evaluation process was just meant to make it look like that was being considered. The best outcome here IMO is that we hire a great coach from outside the family and we revamp the Dean Dome as an olive branch to the family. But the powers that be REALLY want a new arena at Carolina North.
    • yeah outside of 3 shots in a row for arsenal nothing has happened.  I need a quick goal for them and then MC start to press.  Need 2 shots for Arsenal and all 4 still for MC
