Who among us actually believes we'll draft Levis

With the 1st pick...Will Levis!

  1. 1. Will we draft Levis over Stroud or Young?

Recommended Posts

If the NFL announced tomorrow that it was going to be flag football 100 percent of the time from here on out, Bryce Young would be the obvious QB of choice.

Since that isn't likely to happen and Bryce is one 300 pound defensive lineman away from being permanently retired, the correct answer for the Panthers #1 pick is CJ Stroud.

Others need not apply.

I get the viewpoint of digging deeper on all the QB’s from analyst an Huddlers,  but we have been a QB deprived team for about 7 seasons now, due to our own malpractice with Cam. Our scouts and key personnel have already done their homework. We wouldn’t have traded the capital to get to 1 if there were THREE good quarterback prospects we trust. The reports out there that we like 3 or 4, that’s a smoke screen.

I personally think our front office can see the increased probability of Levis getting them all FIRED. You can’t teach nano-second decision making. Levis doesn’t have it despite his other 5 star tools. The front office knows this is a microwave society and people want a product now, not in 2025 (A.Rich) side note: AR can be really good with time.

Bryce is small. He’s the best player but we have too much NFL experience on our coaching staff to draft an anomaly like that. I think he can make it through a season but I do not think that body type bodes well for an injury free career.

So no way we draft Levis. It’s CJ #1A with the slight possibility of going Bryce.

But it's clear that Stroud and Young are the class of the draft, it would be very stupid to even consider Levis or Richardson.  Those guys have value at pick #9, but you didn't just trade to the #1 spot to do that.

Yes, sir, and I don't think that all these experienced football minds are stupid.

Depends if that was pre- or post-combine. The combine might have changed their thinking. It’s also possible that we have traded up so we can have our pick of the quarterbacks after we’ve done further research and due diligence.

I could agree in the sense that we don't know the guys personally, but, as I've said in other drafts, these guys are scouted in some instances from high school. The scouting process begins early, and as a lot of attention is paid to the very top QB prospects, it's not like the guys are a mystery. Things have gotten interesting because Stroud seems to be peaking at exactly the right time---the Georgia game on to the Combine, and that's impressive, but I'm pretty sure that we've researched him and the other two for a while.

Let me remind everyone of what Fitterer actually said at the Combine

"You go get the guy you want. If you have conviction, you go get him. It's pretty simple that way. If you don't know and you're going to give all these resources to go up and get it, you're hurting your team in the long run. You better be right. You better have conviction if you do move up."

I just don't believe that we just moved up willy-nilly to do research and due diligence. That really is kind of odds at what Fitterer said. Sure, I guess that you could have conviction on all these guys, but what are the chances? To me, you go get the one that you actually want.

U touch on this in a post u made right after this but I think it’s because we might equally like Stroud and Young for separate reasons. Obviously the Texans were never entertaining moving down to 9. So now the smokescreen is to make them feel desperate to flip flop with us.

Bears were never going to trade with Houston unless they had something lined up with another team looking to then take the 2nd pick from them. It would have been too risky. They wanted a big haul. I think we recognized that and are now trying to get a small amount back (i.e a 2nd rounder).

Yep, the poker game isn't over.

My first reaction would be that there is a mold infestation growing in the walls and water supply of BOA that causes mass psychosis with delusions and that said mold is about 1 mutation away from causing the zombie apocalypse.

Then I would calmly try to rationalize the thought and arrive at the conclusion that there is obviously something I am missing that they see in Levis.

But I still might stock up on potted meat and ammo just in case…

I think we will draft Stroud or Young with the pick, but if we are swinging for the fences with a raw high upside pick, then I could see us drafting Richardson in the hopes he’s Cam Newton 2.0.

I don't know why you don't take that gamble at this point.

The ceilings of Young and Stroud are limited. Push all your chips into the middle of the table.

At this point the real Dark Horse is Richardson. @mrcompletely11 tagging you in here bc i know you are a huge fan of AR.

There is actual traction that our two choices for 1 is AR and CJ. The team wanted a month to make this decision, and these are the two they are in love with.

I have an actual source that I met with last night for drinks who works inside the building at BoA. He isnt high on the food chain, but was able to stumble upon this nugget.

That being said, he did caveat with "anything can change, especially at the end of the month."

I doubt it's ar at 1.  They could have had him at 3.  Now if they trade down.......

I am pretty sure it's Stroud at 1 and he starts from day 1 and we walk away with the south
