The Bears traded a first, a fourth, and a fifth to move from 20 to 11 to take the 4th QB in a draft.

The 49ers traded 2 firsts and a third to move from 12 to 3 to take the 3rd QB in a draft.

We traded a first, 2 seconds, and DJ Moore to move from 9 to 1 and take the first QB off the board.

And some of y’all are actually complaining lol.

And that Bears QB didn't get his 5th year option picked up and has played for 3 teams in the past 3 years.

And that 49ers QB likely just lost his job to the last pick in the draft.

I think that's what you're missing here, nobody is upset with what we gave up for the #1 pick to draft a QB, it's that the QB's in this draft aren't enough of "can't miss prospects" to give up that much for them, particularly with what could be a historically strong QB draft class next year.

Not sure we’re talking about the same Bears QB. Both those teams would kill to have the first selection of QB in that draft, rather than the 3rd and 4th. We got first choice of QB, that’s what you’re missing. People who say the top prospects this year are not great prospects are just ill-informed tbh.

It’s also not every year that the team drafting #1 is not looking for a QB. Good luck getting Maye or Williams next year unless you want to actually tank for a top pick, which is what it would take. Pretending that we would automatically be able to select the top QB next year is just as dumb as not realizing that this exact time last year people were saying the same thing about a historically strong QB class, and the year before when people said Howell looked like a can’t miss #1 pick. It’s always next years class.

Given how the Bengals were able to draft Burrow and then pair him up with Ja'Marr Chase, giving up DJ in the trade in lieu of additional picks seems like a rational move. Receivers are easier to find and if we're really doing our homework, we may even find another good one later in this year's draft. Also, whatever cap savings we get also helps. The big thing for me was giving up only one future 1st rather than multiple. Meanwhile, Fields has another target to throw to although history of receivers going to Chicago to die is well documented.

Both sides got something valuable out of the trade. Media is probably a bit miffed that they have to talk about us now instead of Chicago for the next few weeks.

Joe "David Robinson'd" Burrow the NFL with his ACL injury, it allowed them to draft the best WR in some time(rookie-wise).

Panthers owe their 2024 first to da bears no matter SB or browns 0-17 season.

I think in 2024 the WR class is stacked, everyone can not be tagged. Doggie paddle until the 125 cap space is there and sign one to some insane 25 million per deal.

A few more to look at- Commies trade up form 6th(I think) to 2nd, it was like 3 1sts I believe for RGIII

Both the rams and eagles traded up form 12th(?) and 9th(?) in order to draft Goff and Wentz. I remember big packages for each, couple 1sts, 2nd, and more.

49ers gave 3 1sts to move form 12th to 3rd, for the right to draft Trey lance.

Bears again, moved form 3 to 2 for a mupilte 3s, 5 and others(i think).

I maybe off on some numbers, going off box wine brain....... still history shows the price is moon high and panthers may have went mountain high......i still think its a in small bears favor......will not matter if stroud is SB MVP...

Reading the reaction on reddit and social media you'd think DJ was at the level of Chase, Hill, Brown, Jeffreson, lol

Maybe he isn't in the top of the top but, he was the closest  in terms of production  and experience  that we had. Might get lucky and hit upon a superstar, however,  if you're starting a rookie, it might be helpful  to have a guy that knows his way around. The FA's that are available aren't that impressive either. I hope there is a trade in the works that  makes  sense.

I don't think it's that people look at DJ as one of the top 5 WRs in the league as much as it's what trading him away has left us with at the WR position for our rookie QB to throw to.

We have the worst WR room in the NFL right now and that's not even debatable, not exactly the ideal scenario for a rookie QB to step in with.  Sure, there's time to figure it out, but we had a top 20 WR on our roster until this trade, that's where the hangup is for me and I'm sure many others in regards to including DJ in this deal.

Losing DJ will force them to rethink some roster decisions.  There's going to be some sacrifices made somewhere else for the time being.

Which will be either DE or LB, 100%

I'm not sure I see any scenario where we take something other than WR with our 2nd rounder now.  There isn't an impactful enough FA WR out there to keep me from drafting a WR to grow with the rookie QB.  Even if we can land someone like Hopkins in a trade, unless we also get a Jeudy or someone like that, we need to draft someone with that 2nd rounder.

And seeing as our biggest holes before this trade was already at WR, along with LB and a pass rusher, logic says those positions are likely getting punted into next offseason for a splash move.  They'll hope to hit the lottery again like with Luvu and Reddick, but if not, those positions don't seem likely to be addressed this offseason with long term solutions now.
