Plan for a veteran QB is what?

2 year 20 million for Heinicke? Good pass. We should pick up an old vet who is cheap. Our rookie will clearly be starting so no need to spend money on a backup, just a vet presence will do

The market is all over the place. $8M for Winston after the Saints just signed Carr was a head scratcher as well. Then this on the opposite end.

"The days of a traditional pocket passer are over" - Frank Reich.

"You need a mobile quarterback that can make plays when the pocket breaks down" - Frank Reich

"You need a leader at the position that can elevate the play of others around him, someone others will respect and play hard for." - Frank Reich

There's a lot more clues if you care to listen to the man. Doesn't mean Richardson is that guy.   Just saying there are clues as to what he's looking for if you listen to what he's actually saying instead of what you want to hear.

I do not like this talk at all honestly.

I'd much prefer a player to be able to play under center, not in the gun all the time.

AR can't throw, Young has to play in the gun, Stoud seems like the best pure passer, but doesn't make a lot of plays with his legs.

Gimme the passer.

Dalton, Minshew, Mariota or Rush for FAs...cheaper QBs that can easily be relegated to the clipboard later in the year.

Would a 6th/7th get Foles from Indy? $3.5M in '23 and a FA after the season.

We need to spend our money on other areas if we're drafting a QB that should start at some point this year. Jacoby & Wentz will cost more, which is less $$ for WR/TE/RB.

Those first two paragraphs, it is in the wording. Is that quote totally in context? I saw Reich comment on the game changing and pocket passers and he did not exactly say it was over in so many words, he said it more like it was heading in that direction. Which seems to be true.

I also think he said something to the effect of there will always be a place for a great passer? Less sure of the wording on that one.

That last thing about elevating and leadership is absolutely true. That is the ideal.

They are down the rabbit hole now. They have hamstrung the offense as a whole in favor of diverting all the resources towards. Decision was made. They did not just sacrifice future resources, they sacrificed current proven talent.
He will Have to elevate the play of the players around him. Or fail.

I am really excited about the amusement potential here, btw.

 Add all this up:

We have a good OL. We have a QB to protect. Psychologically. Don’t wanna ruin his confidence.
But we are slack as hell at receiving talent. Where is a Smitty, Shockey, Olsen?  No Chud either.
We’ll have Foreman and Hubbard and someone else, probably.

You know what that probably means? Might look a lot like Wilks ball😂

Tender PJ Walker? I mean I wouldn't really want to do it but he's cheap and won't care about sitting behind whoever we draft. It feels like a waste of cap space signing a higher profile QB to sit behind whoever we draft.

PJ Walker is terrible, he can't be here next year.

If our rook goes down with an injury, I’d rather start Corral and see what he’s got instead of some over the hill clipboard holder. I don’t really see the value of this magical vet QB some people are suddenly obsessed with.

Same.  If our rookie goes down, start Corral.

If Corral is great, we can trade him in a year or two and recover some capital.

If Corral is "ok", we have our forever backup.

If he's terrible, he's no different than 80% of the college QB's who enter the NFL.

    • Ehh NYR had more scoring opportunities and Florida is healthy with an elite net minder. Only fault I have on Rod is his goalie decision. At some point, the players deserve some balme.
    • I went to McDonald's at lunch got a combo for $12. It was ok. The next day I ordered lunch from Cracker Barrel got the broccoli cheddar chicken, steak fries, and 2 biscuits paid $12 with tip. Guess which was better.
