Thielen has more TD's in the last 4 seasons than

stefon diggs

cooper kupp

a.j. brown

dk metcalf

amari cooper

george kittle

deandre hopkins

keenan allen

pretty amazing for us to pull him int his FA market considering our team's current situation (not being a contender) and the fact that we're drafting a rookie qb

We’re in absolutely no position to start using void years into 26-27.

Unfortunately for us if Fitterer isn’t winning by then he’ll be come and those years won’t be his problem

If I’m not mistaken, if Thielen retires during those void years they go off of the books (dead cap wise). It’s possible they are banking on that.

also, the eagles did the void years with a players during their Super Bowl victory seasons, and somehow they were able to get the void years Goff the books. I need to brush up on it, but mainly there are ways around them.

2022 Thielen + Sanders + Hurst = 2477 yds 19 TDs

2022 DJ + Foreman + CMC (6 games) = 2498 yds 15 TDs

It sucked to lose DJ, a fan favorite, but....

  • We moved from 9 --> 1
  • A new franchise QB1 is finally in our sights
  • A competent, loaded coaching staff at the helm
  • Still room to add another WR and/or TE
  • Cap flexibility in '24 (though it is starting to dwindle)

It's a great time to be a Panthers fan. Thielen will thrive here as a WR2 in '23 if he can stay healthy....probably becomes the WR3 in '24 and then is off the roster in '25.

No reason to think he can't put up 50-750-7TD next year.

Whooooaaaaa Uncle Ray wasn't expecting those contract details...I think the only other WR we're getting in FA would be one like Jamison Crowder

no body talks abt it but AAI2 is one of the best plots in  the franchise

also don't worry this still puts us in play for someone like Chark, but I rly wouldn't rule out another CB.

It really is; love how that story played out. Probably has my favorite characters out of all the versions too

    • Cooter, Kurb, others have passed on to glory….  Praise be.
    • Oh good for them! Hope this is the start of a long happy time in their lives here.
    • There was no reason to believe in either Cam or Jake as a top tier elite QB before those seasons either. Cam was an "athletic" QB in most people's minds and his passing skills were open for debate. And there was a bit to that as he was still trying to get that massive power in his arm tamed to be able to put some touch on his passes. And then, he did it. Missiles became bombs, the firing lanes became points of finesse. Cam grew up and leveled up, while still retaining the ability and drive to truck people whenever he wanted. And Jake... no one freaking believed in Jake except Jake himself. He got, and let's be honest with this, one chance in a losing game to make something out of his career. And he rose to the occasion like some kind of mythical hero and continued to do so for the season. He became a true leader for the team, and his gunslinger capabilities rehabbed Moose's career and created Smitty as a force in the league. Smitty went from a barker to a biter. But no one believed in Jake going in. And they trashed him on his way out. Now Bryce... who knows? I've seen some improvement. Maybe he finds his footing. His teammates seem to love and respect him and that means a lot. The game should be moving at his speed now. He has weapons available to him and maybe a defense that doesn't just roll over by the third quarter. And his coach seems to be moving this team in the right direction. Could he do it? It's up to him, if he can find the magic like Jake and Cam did. But don't doubt this, magic is really, really hard to find.
