Chinn confirms he'll be playing more LB (closer to the line)

I think the setup is actually nice. If he can play ILB with Luvu OLB in base (20-30% of snaps), but then is Big Nickel most of the other time with some box safety sprinkled in, he plays 95%+ of our snaps easy.

Luvu will basically be floating between inside and outside which I think is fine.

This dude is Jamal Adams.

Not sure he has a role in a 3-4.

Trade him to the Broncos for Jeudy or Sutton.

I hate to say it but unless they're going to Joker/SS him, I agree. He operates best in space near the line and that ain't a 3-4 LB's role unless they're running a lot of under and he'll be the backside guy, but even then that's a lot of trash to wade through.

He's still a valuable sub LB/Joker in nickel/dime, but that seems like a waste of talent to eliminate his utility a good portion of the time.

I believe Evero has mentioned Chinn by name was speaking on makings your defense fit the player, so I would imagine that the role they have envisioned for him is not going to shoe horn him into a role he isn't suited for. It won't be "Now he is a 3-4 LB and here is the list of the 3-4 LBs job and he must do them all"

Another ILB alongside Shaq is not seen as a big need at the moment. We can play Chinn, move Frankie Luvu from EDGE or use Brandon Smith at that position.

EDGE opposite Burns is now a bigger need.

I agree, but I am not sure Luvu plays the edge on a regular basis--I think his base position will be ILB.

Of course--that is just my take---waiting to see what happens

yep. He will have to gain 20 lbs to play ILB and 40 lbs for OLB in the 3-4. Cant be 220 and take on 300 plus linemen all day. If he is moving to LB, then he will have to be traded.

    • Jack Roslovic: Only 2 other UFA, right-handed centers age 28 or under had more points (39) than him- Sam Bennett (51) and Pius Suter (46). There were 4 other centers age 33 and older who scored more: Gireaux (37), Marchand (37), Tavares (34), Granlund (33).  Unless the Canes go old, if they let Jack walk, they won't get a center who scored more.  Thoughts?
    • nope     This is why we come back every year.  Hope springs eternal
    • It's important to differentiate criticism and hate. I can't speak for that individual you quoted. But most people who have been critical of the Tepper's have been so because both of them have made it a point to put themselves front and center and in the middle of team operations and we have been largely horrific more often than not as a result. If people are making derogatory remarks about her that should be met with an appropriate response but if people are being defensive just because she's being criticized all I can say is people should get used to it. Both her and David would have been getting absolutely skewered by the media and the fans if this were a big market franchise. The Lakers are finally being sold off after years and years of public criticism of Jeannie Buss and even though I'm the furthest you could go from being a Lakers fan just about anyone you could meet who is familiar with the NBA would say the criticism was certainly valid.
