Peter King: Bryce Young inching closer to Carolina

According to Steve Smith people are viewing Young processing as elite and a level above Stroud. I believe they said Stroud can be like Dak, where he can be amazing when in rhythm but can struggle when not.

If teams really are viewing Youngs ability to process and diagnose as head and shoulders above everyone else I think its going to be hard to say no.

where is this coming from that the texans are in love with young?

Texans fans seem to think it, but Lance Zeurline I think who hit on what they drafted last year I guess said he's heard they dont like Stroud as much and may take Anderson or Wilson if Young isnt there. I've heard a few Texans beat writers float there is a thought out there it could be true.

As with everything who actually knows.

isn’t that every defensive coordinators plan regardless of who the QB is?

At the combine Young weighed 204 and Stroud weighed 214 at 6'3.  Apparently those 10lbs make all the difference in if you get hurt when you get sacked or not.  Even if you say thats padded weight by Young there isnt this huge weight difference like people act.  Especially if you consider the fact Stroud is so much taller which means those 10 pounds are stretched more thin.   Even if you figure Young is 195, if you factor in height, Young has more mass than Stroud.   195 at 5'10 is more mass per inch of height than 6'3 214 lbs.

Two things stick out for me:

  • Before the CHI trade they were tied steady to Young and there was little debate about it.
  • Stroud's agent is Deshaun Watson's. They won't avoid him forever but I can't imagine they're eager to work with him.

Pretty sure BY has Watson's agent as well.

People bring this up a lot but I don't think it really means anything. We don't know how their relationship is with the agent. Just because Watson forced his way out and was a problem doesn't mean they blame the agent at all. They got a lot out of that trade, possibly with the agent's help working together to get it. We just don't know or have any real insight into that situation.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
