Sack yards are subtracted from rushing totals in college which can be a little weird to look at, but I don’t think he’s going to be running often or anything.

But he was comparing him to wilson and that was trademark of his for years.  Roll out of the pocket and scramble for a first.   He has 5000 career rushing yards

I've never considered this but it makes sense to warm us up to Bryce when the fanbase is favoring Stroud. No telling whether the smoke is for us or Houston.

Houston. Until there's absolutely no chance of them trading us, this is how it will be.

ah yes. the good ole days when someone on this site told me I was a "fuging idiot" because I wanted Cam over Gabbert. Good times.

I remember the discussions being more offense vs defense oriented, honestly don’t remember anybody wanting yo gabba

This is a very interesting take that I hadn't heard before, but it makes all the sense in the world.

In marketing terms, it made sense that you'd want to play up the rooting interests for Bryce and CJ and tease the mystery out until draft day. And in business terms it makes sense to do the same to ensure that pick has the highest value possible if you're entertaining the idea of trading back.

But in emotional terms, this 50/50 split is terrible fanbase management. You don't want people so dug into their camp that half the fanbase is booing when the pick is announced, and rooting for the guy who isn't their guy to fail to prove themselves right.

In terms of driving ticket sales, the team needs to start telegraphing and hyping up the guy they intend to pick, starting now so everyone is either excited or at least warmed up to the idea by the pick is announced.

It may be Bryce in 2 weeks, but if I was a franchise trying to convince another franchise I was going to take their beloved QB, this is how I would leak info. I bet Houston is really nervous right now after thinking the last month we were taking Stroud. That nervousness is what makes teams give up draft capital.

I for one can't imagine living in a world where there are two radical sides taken up on any given topic.

the funny thing is just like with politics there are very few radical Bryce or Stroud supporters here, some of them are very vocal but most people are more in the middle and would be fine with either of them and recognize both of their strengths and weaknesses.

Throwing out his first year, he had 0 yards rushing his heisman season and 185 last year.  He is not a threat to run and to me this complicates matters immensely if defenses know you dont like to run.  Sure he can scramble out of the pocket off script but holy fug that is a recipe for disaster

I'm just talking about his speed and elusiveness.  They obviously aren't going to ask him to run that much with his size.  He was dodging some NFL talent these past couple years and made it look easy.

Josh was on WFNZ this morning

And the way he talked, it’s Not just smoke

-Said when they traded up they were torn between a few prospects.

- mentioned as the pro days and meetings went and they met with the people.  They have an idea or have their guy by now.

- mentioned that’s why all the rapid leaks and movement has been happening the last few days.

- said the team Would like the fans to know somewhat who the pick is before it happens.

- pointed out the big draft party even they’re hosting.  Said with the fan base so split and torn between a few guys.  It best for the fans base to someone know instead of having everyone there who are taking sides at the event.

- said they’d like it to be more of a coronation.  Then the shock surprise

I look at it like this...

If they traded up for the #1 pick they obviously had a specific QB they really wanted. You just don't trade to the top and not be certain who your QB is.

I think it's becoming more clear by the day that Bryce Young will be our QB.

    • I went to Canes games back in '04 & '05 when you were probably still a swimmer waiting to make your dad a father. There was no one there bc they sucked. Some of the lowest attendance in the NHL. As a Panthers fan coming off a SB season (03-04), I couldn't even believe they put a hockey team in Raleigh, and given the attendance, a lot of people speculated they would be relocated somewhere back up north where they would be supported and not "Mayberry." Seriously, educate youself.  That is reality. That being said, comparing that environment to 2024 Canes would be disingenuous. I was at PNC last year and know how great the current environment is. Comparing the current environment at BOA to 10 years ago is just as disingenuous.  Just bc you didn't witness how good BOA is when the Panthers are actually decent doesn't change reality. Seriously, surely you see that coming from such an elitist environment like the globally renowned world-class city of Raleigh, NC... I guarantee you if you went to a Canes game and a Panthers game in 2005, the difference would be unreal bc the Panthers were awesome and the Canes were (at the time) a moribund franchise. I have been in BOA when the whole stadium was rocking. You simply are young, don't know what you're talking about, but want to portray yourself as having knowledge about things you simply don't. You have a lot in common with modern day politicians and televangelists Like I said, Idiocracy has prevailed... Have a great day too!
    • Let it all out bro.   At the end of the day Charlotte fans just aren't that passionate as other fans. The Panthers and Hornets crowds are wack.    Go to a Canes game and you will understand this. Tell the family I said hi and Happy Father's Day.
    • Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. Best place to live?  LMAO... that's your criteria...  Charlotte gets put all over those lists too... come on man... and those lists have zero to do with sports. I'm done after this bc I'm punching down intellectually here... The Panthers have been bad for 6 years now. You are obviously young and not overly educated based off the "dunks" you're putting out there that certainly are, so let me educate you today on the Panthers. The Panthers sold out for well over a decade straight. BOA has been as good an environment as there is when the team is good.  Fan support for the Panthers has been incredible when the team has even remotely reciprocated. The idea that Charlotte doesn't support the Panthers is utter BS. People in Raleigh have the biggest little brother syndrome of all time... Nobody outside of the Triangle cares about any of your "vaunted" sports team outside of Duke-UNC in basketball on a national scale. Sure, the Canes are great. But nationally, the WWE dwarfs the NHL in ratings. More people care about Cody Rhodes than Sebastian Aho... or anyone else in the NHL for that matter... I doubt less than 5% of anyone in this state outside of Raleigh even knows who that is... that's a knock on Aho who is a great player, it's just the NHL barely makes a ripple in the overall hierarchy of American sports. It's not in the same universe as the NFL or NBA no matter how badly you want to tell yourself otherwise. Raleigh is not a big-time sports city, no matter how much you want to scream into the abyss about it. Neither is Charlotte. But no one here is making such a nonsense argument... LOL it's good to be young and to be ignorant enough to be confidently wrong... WTF are you even on this board though since Charlotte is so beneath you? There is an actual discussion board on this very site for Raleigh sports since they are so superior...  Maybe it's bc I'm watching Idiocracy with my son, but your timing is perfect, my man... The dumbest among us have become the most confidence in their ignorance... God Bless America!!
