Article:

The NFL draft can look like a big party for the players selected, but the first pick in the 2023 NFL draft has been all business.

Panthers quarterback Bryce Young went to the team facility on Friday and impressed General Manager Scott Fitterer and head coach Frank Reich with how eager he is to get to work.

“He acknowledged last night was fun, but today, he’s turning the page now,” Fitterer said of Young. “He talked about minicamp coming up, coached talked to him about getting the playbook. He’s business now.”

Reich said Young wants to prove he’ll be ready to start in Week One.

“He’s a class act,” Reich said. “That’s one of the things that made him such an attractive pick to us. He will go out and earn it.”

For a franchise quarterback, those attributes are as important as the physical tools. Fitterer and Reich have no doubt that they chose the right person to lead their team for years to come.

("Reich said Young wants to prove he’ll be ready to start in Week One.") I like the fact that QB Bryce Young acknowledges the fact that he will have to earn the starting QB job and doesn't feel it will simply be handed to him because he was the 2023  #1 Overall NFL Draft Choice.

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
