Thank god we didn't do that.

Bryce Young is way more talented than Sam Howell.

It wouldn't be a question of Howell vs. Young.

It's be a question of Howell + the trade package we spent to get up to #1 vs. Young. Young better be orders of magnitude better.

If Howell is on the roster we probably don't trade up for a QB. We likley take Kincaid at #9.

Mediocrity continues...

Sorry, but this just makes no sense.

We took a QB about 50 picks earlier than Howell in that draft and it didn't stop us from making a move for the #1 pick.  Sure, Howell didn't get hurt like Corral did, but he only played in 1 game and threw less than 20 passes, it's not like he showed some crazy potential that would have made us wanting to go into the season with him as our starter this year.

Lewan has had a bunch of injuries lately but could be very solid tackle depth if he'd come cheap. Also, our old buddy McD is apparently very concerned about Diggs skipping mandatory minicamp, wonder if he winds up forcing a trade...

I was always a big Lewan fan, but he's lost a ton of weight. I think he's giving up on the NFL and just happy to be doing his podcast with Barstool Sports.

Let's cut this one off before it gets started, we will never trade for Diggs, nor should we even entertain it.

Absolutely one of the best WRs in the league, better than Hopkins is at this point as well.  But the guy is a huge diva who demands targets and when he doesn't get as many as he likes, he loses his cool.

That's just the exact opposite type of a WR you want to give to a rookie QB, particularly one whose game looks like it will be predicated on making the right reads, spreading the ball around, and not forcing the ball to any one player.

Would be the worst thing for Bryce's development and even worse for the development of TMJ/Mingo than Hopkins would be.

to be clear I wasn't suggesting we would or should be involved, this is an NFL news thread so that's why I added it

I had a feeling from some comments he said last year he seems to be getting tired of never making it to the Super Bowl and feels the Bills window is closing.
I am kinda in that camp too. But I think McDermott will enter 2023 season on a warm seat.

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
