Another one falls into the trap that is Sam Darnold

Darnold would still be here and be good if we had kept Wilks. New staff don't want the reclamation project and that's reasonable. Darnold will be good if he's got a good team around him. He'll never be an elite guy but probably has a couple really good years in him yet, if coached well.

Fortunate for us we have an extremely promising rookie QB to mold. Everybody gets what they want here.

It's also worth noting that even CMC said he had never seen coaching like he got when he arrived in SF and pretty much everyone can agree CMC did not have issues with processing.

I thought Gase was bad until Rhule handed him his beer. I truly have no idea what Sam can be as a QB. Wish him the best because he's certainly had some of the worst and still carried himself with respect.

Well at least until he's playing us.

What's incredible, is that CMC said that....and he went to Stanford and they run a very "pro" program.  Meaning, Shanny is either a God Coach, or most everyone else is simply not very good at their jobs.

In defense of Sam his last starts when he came back looked vastly better than under his 2 previous coaching staffs. There's probably never been a young qb with worst staffs to start a career. While I don't think he's a top tier type qb he can be a starter in the nfl.

I must say after all the dissecting of the 2023 #2 overall pick it is wild to see folks still saying "this is the year!" about a 6th year quarterback who finished his last start with one of the ten worst passer ratings in the history of the league.

And to be honest, I hope he does. I liked Sam. He had to play with 2 shitty teams.

kinda why he was here to make the team better so he was a factor in how sh%#@& it was.

Yeah, it really shows much you should  value people’s opinions around here

Dragging a mediocre QB into the the playoffs only to lose is a bad thing. It pushes you down the draft board, and you have no hope of winning the SB. Yes an overall great team can pull Darnold along into the playoffs like a boat dragging an anchor, but soon or later that anchor is going to get catch on something. You're not going to make it shore.

Purdy brought the 49ers to the Conference Championship. I think Darnold will thrive with their organization and I think he is leagues above Purdy. He was always behind a trash O-Line with mediocre coaches. If anyone will turn around Darnold, it will be Shanahan

Purdy is already ahead of him in reading defenses and performing under pressure.

I can definitely agree with you on performing under pressure but Purdy was also behind a Top 10 Line in both pass-blocking and run-blocking. I don't think Darnold will look like a superstar over there but he definitely will look better than he did in Carolina.

Apparently you missed the Saints game.
