We had CMC for years. We were never competitive without a QB.

Atlanta weakness is still QB. I wouldn't expect a rookie rb to make them the favorites in the division.

The entire division has a QB weakness. We're just hoping that we've solved ours.

They have a stud wr, rb and te. Some people thought highly of Desmond Ridder. He did get better during his four starts, but I doubt he ends up as a quality NFL starter. More likely the shine wears off over the course of the season and they are back to trying to find a qb.

Who is their stud WR?

Mostly I stick to the NFL Network for national NFL news. I have not heard any one of their analysts call for Atlanta to win the division. Not one. It's either been the Panthers or New Orleans. The Bucs have consistently been at the bottom.

I think one of the problems analysts have when looking at the NFCS is that the Panthers have no history for them to consider. No they finished the year strong chatter. No they have a D they can build on. The only consistent from last year is our o-line and that may be in flux because of injuries. Oh, and our kicker and punter and long snapper. New head coach, 99% new staff, new QBs, new offensive weapons, new defensive alignment. We can't yet be analyzed as a whole package with history. So the analysists that are good at their jobs are looking at Frank Reich and what has been said plus each player individually. Those that are not good at their jobs are dismissing us.

That’s what I’m saying. People keep hyping up their weapons but I can only guess it’s based on college performance and expectations cuz London and Pitts both are just meh. They’re ok but nothing to get worked up about.  Some teams some years just get hype and the benefit of the doubt. The Bucs were the next great team for like ten years before they got Brady. Brady made it sorta true for one year and then they fell back to earth and mediocrity.

London and Pitts need a QB my man.

Pitts had a great rookie season when he had Matt Ryan when he was playing like a mid tier QB. Last year they weren't even using him as a weapon. That guy should be used like Kelce.

Once they get a legit QB they will be scary. It's why I was happy when they pulled out of the Lamar sweepstakes.

They have been oddly built for a while now. They are more than just a qb away, but that kind of fits with how they've gone about roster construction.

There's been a bunch spent on oline with diminishing returns. They have a couple of pieces on defense, but have failed to build around them. They continue to draft skill players highly, as if they are 1 superstar away. It's all very curious, and I don't get the logic, but I'm ok with it since it's the Falcons.

I remember when we got a former t10 CB for peanuts. Don’t mean poo.

They paid even less for okudah and his issue was injuries more than poo play. Of course, that’s just one addition they’ve made as referenced above. I don’t know if it will work but there is reasonable cause to believe that their defense will be better with changes just as it is that our offense could be better.

Weird situation, they were in run/rpo/play action like 90% under Mariota so who knows how good the O-line/ridder/London/Pitts can be with whatever adjustments they're making. I thought ridders college tape sucked so I'm not that worried about anything besides the run game

    • Um, no, just no. Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens, Bengals, Texans, Eagles, Commanders are 8 teams that it's not even a debate, they aren't trading their QB for Purdy. Patriots, Broncos, Titans, Giants, Bears, Vikings, Falcons are 7 more teams with QBs drafted in the last 2 years that also would rather stick with them than trade for Purdy as they all have more upside than he does. Lions, Packers, Cowboys, Bucs are 4 more that would likely keep their QB's as well, age aside for Goff, Dak, and Baker. Panthers and Colts are two teams in the same situation, QB's who have both struggled and shown flashes to where the teams probably stick with them because they drafted them, but in a re-draft of all QB's, they probably take Purdy over the guy they currently have. Jags, Cardinals, Dolphins, are 3 more with QB's who probably have a higher upside than Purdy but come with their own question marks, so debatable if they'd take Purdy over who they already have. That leaves Jets, Raiders, Steelers, Browns, Saints, Seahawks, and Rams. Rams would take him over Stafford for the future of course, but not for 2025, and I'd think the Seahawks would take him over Darnold, but honestly not sure if they would take him over Milroe at this moment as they really like his potential and have him for 4 years really cheap. That leaves 5 teams that I see who would absolutely take him over their current situation right now, and a handful of others who MIGHT take him over their current guy, a far cry from your 20.
    • Agreed. Also as soon as they received the top pick in the next draft it was over. Bears won that trade. Gave up a top overall pick got one the next year plus pick 9, a couple 2nds, and DJ Moore a proven young WR. Had their 2024 pick from us be in the late teens or later it would be more debatable IMO.
    • Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
