Chuba Hubard Underappreciated!!!

He is a decent backup for early downs.  That’s it.

Carolina still needs 3rd down help and depth.  Eagles didn’t love Sanders in that role.  He can do it but that’s all we got.

Rookie QB needs someone reliable

Lbr the only reason people vehemently dislike him is becauae of the Rhule's wife story.

He's been just as solid, if not better than names like Mike Godsoon and Cameron Artis Payne. He's not a plodder and he seems to understands run gaps well. Probably not a 2nd contract guy but you can do a LOT worse from a backup than Chuba.

I cringe when I see him there on 3rd down.  He blocks at his size and I still don't trust his hands.  I'd rather he be there on 1st and let Sanders be there on 3rd.  Or better yet, get another back to share the load with Sanders and Chuba doesn't see the field unless someone gets hurt.

You don't have to run after that comment. Heck, she should have given MORE advice to her husband.

Though Chuba's touches went down last year, his efficiency was greatly improved. Of course, much of that was the improved OL play, but perhaps he can keep things trending in the right direction.

How can he be underappreciated when you have guys like Dameon Pierce/Tyler Algeier/Khalil Herbert etc that are also day 3 picks and more versatile?

I mean, are they really? Don't confuse use with being more versatile. They've had more opportunities out of necessity. But when you look at the entire context, as well as compare the average production, Hubbard is really right in there with them.

It's not like any of the guys you mentioned have displayed appreciably more versatility than Hubbard is what I'm saying. Plus, our O-line was pretty horrible in 2021 in reference to the run game.

I don't really think Hubbard is a bad runner. Heck, we've seen plenty of cases where he takes a handoff and runs like a freight train.

Just don't ask him to catch a pass. And please, in the name of all that's holy don't put him out there to catch a punt 😖

I just wonder if maybe watching a freak like CMC do whatever however whenever, led Chubba to play outside himself?  And with the piss poor coaching around here I doubt anyone would have noticed?

The aforementioned "piss poor coaching" is probably responsible for more things than we'll ever know.
