I've always been fortunate that I never had either.  I could see concussions also being something somebody is always thinking about once they've had a bad one or more than one.

Friend of mine was an NCAA basketball referee for a long time.  His career on the court ended with an Achilles.

I probably had 4 or 5, with one being really bad.

Let me just tell ya, crossing routes, and punt and kickoff returns were never the same.

Nah....even Benjamin had more yds and tds than LaFell playing 20 less games. Ginn, Samuel and Funchess both scored more tds in same or fewer games. LaFell doesnt even come close to 2nd anything

I repeat, LaFell gave us Oh Wee Mayne.  The value of that outweighs whatever that lazy fatty WR named Kelvin did.  Same lazy WR that forced Cam to chase down that DB.  The shoulder that essentially ended Cam's career.

I'll die on this hill.

Went there last year for first time in 20 years. Wilmington is a dump. Surprised how it downtown has gone nowhere while other cities have cleaned up and revitalized.

Agreed. I went for a wedding a few years back. It was kind of sad.

I asked a buddy if he knew any spots there as he lived there only two years prior at the time. He was like "I haven't lived there in two years, I don't know what's good anymore." I went there and was like you don't know what's good anymore? This place sucks ass, there can't be too many spots that are good.

You should have seen it 30+ years ago.  Was like walking back in time to the 60's.

Ha. I hate to say it but I was close. I used to venture down there all the time about 18-20 years ago.

It was a lot more fun than it is now.

I kind of wish they had these practices at night. It has to be hell for these players practicing in this heat. This has been the hottest summer on record. Sucks for them but I understand that football you must be prepared to play in any conditions.

It's not the hottest summer on record. I know you've been around here for a while but it hasn't been any hotter, other than one day last week, than any time in the past 10,000 years for Spartanburg. Law of averages. Now the lows are back down into the low 60's which is quite low for July and August. It's always 90 to 95 degrees and steaming this time of year.

I meant Nationally it's been reported as the hottest summer on record for the entire US.

I apologize if I confused some people.

You didn't confuse anyone. You made a misleading statement.

Agreed, we certainly aren't giving up on him. But worth noting he had great camp last year and then struggled in the regular season. Certainly better to hear good things than bad things during camp and I'm much more confident in this year's coaching staff, but I personally am tempering expectations for him a bit until we see the success translate to the field in games that matter, consistently.

Last year though, there were some things that happened.

I was not happy with his play okay, don’t misunderstand me, but Wilks came here to coach him and Horn and Jackson etc but was snatched up into other responsibilities.
Maybe that didn’t help CJ or the entire back end for that matter.
IOW maybe there is some hope he gets it.

Just act like most other folks when they get called out. Ignore, deflect, and move on. There are a bunch of folks that have been here almost since day one that have never had to apologize for a mistake because they ignore, deflect, then move on. lol

Yeah im going to do that from now on.

It saves on the stress if you generally only respond to posters you actually want to converse with. Let the rest just roll off your back. Otherwise, you are wasting precious moments that cannot be replaced.

Unless you're having fun, then have at it.

Been working a lot recently and I’ve missed damn near everything practice related, how’s everyone feeling about Young so far? I know there arent many videos released anymore from practices, but didn’t know how others felt based off of tweets and media reporting?

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
