Did we just pass drafting Cam Newton Jr….

AR was who I wanted and I would be absolutely and unquestionably ecstatic right now had we took him, regardless of what we looked like in the preseason.  The concerns I have about Bryce now are the same ones I had before we drafted him and once we selected him, and they have me legitimately concerned that we may have really took the wrong guy - but again, I'm hoping for the best.  But ngl, seeing AR play into his potential is going to be very hard to watch over the years regardless of how Bryce looks, because even if Bryce plays up to his potential, the physical limitations are still there - but if Bryce consistently wins, it will hurt a little less...  but, damn, AR is a lot more fun to watch.

Cam was so insanely far ahead in his development than Cam at this same stage of their careers. It remains to be seen if and when Richardson is able to close that gap.

I am extremely skeptical Richardson is anything more than just a freak athlete masquerading as a QB.

Out of interest, how was Newton more advanced in his development?

He was a much better passer and could read the field better. Many people thought AR needed a year to sit because he is still pretty raw as a passer. AR isn’t dropping 4000 passing yards like Cam did his 16 game rookie season.

Similarities for sure but Cam dominated at Auburn like no other player has ever dominated in college football. AR wasn’t that great in college but has huge potential. Who knows if that potential is ever realized.

AR wasn’t that great in college. Look at his stats. I wonder how he can dominate at the pro level when he didn’t dominate at the college level. He’s a freak athlete that’s for sure.

Cam had the athleticism  coming out of college but was also a Heisman trophy winner and the best player in college.

Richardson looked like hot garbage at Florida on most days.

Not saying he won't develop into a legitimate NFL quarterback, but comparing him to Cam Newton at this junction is just dumb and disrespectful to Cam.

    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
    • this one is gold:     Bryce has a cult inside the Panthers fanbase that has truly developed some NPC hivemind. I'll never understand how he's captured the true essence of the casual fan like that.
