Even Brady didn't put that much fear into me. Drake Maye got you shook like that?

Fear isn't the right word.

I didn't fear Brady, but we went 1-5 against him, right?

Maye in TB or Atlanta would set them up for long term success, imo. I want Drake to have a great NFL career so I don't want the mixed emotions of him sharing a division with the Panthers.

I wouldn't be shook. I'd be extremely disappointed.

Are we sure that was a Fitt pick?

I think Rhule made that pick.

What’s more likely?  That Matt Rhule wanted Corral so he told Fitterer to trade up for him, then proceeded to act like he never existed?  Or Fitterer wanted Corral and Rhule never wanted a rookie QB so he acted like he never existed?

We will never know but I think fitt got hired he read the room, saw the train wreck and went with it.  Probably didn’t sabotage rhule but simply let Rhule hang himself.

that said I don’t know how much I blame fitt for draft picks but am willing to give him benefit of the doubt

I thought it was widely reported that Corral was McAdoo's favorite QB in the class?

This!

And im a UNC diehard myself. You had people saying Drake Maye was better than Caleb Williams last season. Like stop it. Caleb is just on a different level. Maye struggled down the stretch in the weak ACC conference. He's legit but he's not better than Caleb.

UNC fans need to chill out overhyping these QB's.

Just wait until Caleb Williams measures 5’11 at the combine.

Here's the potential irony of drafting Corral...

Drafting Howell could have potentially saved Rhule's job and/or prevented us from selecting Bryce this year. Yes, we would have had a starting NFL QB, DJ Moore, and a lot of extra picks. BUT, even as a Tar Heel football fan, I think Bryce may have a better career than Howell, and it would not have been for the Panthers without Corral.

I doubt that it would have made any difference.  .

The Process would have "red shirted" Howell the same way he did Corral.  He had a stable of three lousy QBs ahead of Corral or Howell, and the most vulnerable of those lousy QBs was his pet.  He was betting his job on the newest lousy QB.

Whoever they brought in, whether it was Corral, Howell, or Mahomes was not going to have an easy time of it, was going to get no coaching, and may have been stashed on IR hurt or not. We would not have known any more about Howell than we did Corral heading into the draft this year.

In Rhule's world, freshman do not play on the varsity team.

Watch the video of Rhule and Fitts talking about the Corral trade and pick.

Rhule couldn't care less. It just seems really obvious he had no desire not just for Corral, but a rookie QB period. Seems like Fitts convinced him that they had to take a QB and Rhule was probably like well fine then, this guy and Fitts was likely high on Corral too so it worked out. Well, it didn't work out but they were in agreement. Maybe it was McAdoo banging the table for Corral but I'm not sure how much sway he had in the room. McAdoo just seemed like someone that was forced onto Rhule that Rhule never really wanted to begin with. Tepper probably told him to get some real NFL experience on his staff and he came up with McAdoo and Wilks.

Good find.

Struck by a couple of things watching that, first being Rhule's mention that Dan Morgan was convicted on Corral "at one time". I'd be interested to know if that meant he came off of it.

When the call from New England comes in asking if we're interested, Fitterer starts saying "let's see what happens here" but Rhule interrupts with "that's a yes".

Just prior to that, you can hear Rhule talking about how patient they've been so far, but not sounding particularly patient himself at the time. And then of course you have Tepper joining in.

Also did find it funny that it was Rhule on the phone with New England Rather than Fitterer or Morgan.

Possible. l wasn't as certain because Fitterer has kind of a blank, hard to read face (pretty decent poker face) but yeah, I could see it.

on one hand, you have a meddling and impatient owner telling you what to do and how to build a team

on the other hand, you have a lame duck and desperate incompetent high school coach cosplaying as an NFL head coach with total roster and draft control telling you what to do and how to build a team

    • …is Brycen Tremayne with 108 yards. Not sure what that tells us but I imagine it’s some sort of gumbo consisting of the following: - Bryce can’t push the ball downfield  - contrary to what many were saying this offseason, the wr still needs a lot of work.  - we need Coker back badly.  - Brycen is pretty good! Congrats to that young man! Curious to hear other’s read on it. Was a pretty surprised to see he had more yards than anyone other than Tet and thought that was symptomatic of our issues on offense.
    • I don’t think many fans would have guessed the Chiefs and Ravens would be where they are right now. Same goes for some surprise packages like the Colts, I’m not sure many would have put money on them being top of their division after five weeks. It’ll be interesting to see if this continues!   Not necessarily. The Chargers have lost both starting OL and their 1st and 2nd choice RBs. They fell apart against Washington. The Broncos have just beat the Eagles, so they’d be my favourite in that division, but they are still only one win ahead of the Chiefs. All the Chiefs need is a couple of results to go their way and they’ll be right in the fight for the AFC East. I think that division is going to be very close and probably not a 12 or 13 win division like predicted. Unless of course the Broncos kick on.
