Leave your emotions at the door about Burns... it's a BUSINESS

He doesn’t have us by the balls.  He’s under a 5th year option.  Holding out means he loses millions and still doesn’t accrue a season.  Then back to the same spot he’s in right now.  We have a first year head coach and rookie QB.  I don’t think anyone believes this is a SB or bust team.  It’s not like Burns is the difference between a ring or a losing season.  Don’t overpay and handicap us for the next few years.  We have more holes to fill and no first rounder next year.  Let him hold out.  Let him lose millions.  Let the league forget about him by this time next year.  Or…he can agree to a deal that pays him in the top 8-10 for his position, which matches his performance.

This is the way. As long as our team is willing to offer him close-but-not-quite top end money, I’m fine with that. BB doesn’t have a ton of options beyond holding out. But that’s not a great option either (missing out on almost $1mil per game and not accruing a season).

He might miss this week, but I could see this getting sorted out pretty quickly too. Need Bosa to sign.

Seems to me we are just trying to trade away all our top players for picks.

CMC/DJ/Burns?

The Carolina Draft Picks.

I am most upset over DJ. He was not all that expensive for his production. No he isnt the top of the league WR but he has had pretty damn good production from some absolutely miserable QB's here lately. I wish we could have found a way to have kept him here and still gotten Bryce.

I don't think CJ was a mistake, just a slight overpay. He is our third best DE of all time

Yes, but the only other suitor in free agency was cap strapped Atlanta.  We overpaid about $5m per year, imo. Marty had an inferiority complex about Carolina and thought he had to overpay to keep players here.  I remember he once said on WFNZ about his drafting ability--"Well, several of my draft picks are the highest paid players at their respective positions" (paraphrasing).  I nearly put my car in the guardrail reaching for my damn phone to call in...Never got through.

    • Woods has had 600 yards in 2 years with Stroud. He's done. Collins blew up with Stroud and had a ton more everything in Stroud’s rookie year than he did in his first two years combined. Mingo sucks but his rookie season was about the same as Collins. The Texans won 10 games with rookie Stroud. They won 11 total games in the 3 years prior. They had a poo roster before the 2023 draft. The Panthers had a better team before the 2023 draft. That was my point that Stroud (and Anderson) jumped the Texans to another level. No one thought of Nico Collins as a stud before Stroud. They were one of the worst teams in the league from 2020-2022. We won 6 more games over the same time period.
    • 1 here. I don't think we are very good. Maybe we can be entertaining though. Anyway, I would rather be pleasantly surprised with a couple of wins, rather than being angry and annoyed every Sunday because the team is just flat out terrible.
