Time to see what Cade Mays is all about.

With experience, I feel like Mays will be great. Keep in mind after we drafted him, we knew Austin Corbett was gonna be one of the guards and had a good idea Christensen was switching to the other. So Mays was fairly limited his rookie year. He'll probably make some mistakes (we know Ickey sure did early on), but with patience I think he'll succeed.

Odd move because Zavala is likely gonna be at LG when Corbett returns.

Maybe if Zavala sucked last week you could go ahead and switch up both spots but he played pretty well so may as well leave the right side functional. Also Cade sucked at RG in camp so maybe he’ll have better luck as a fill in on the left side for a couple weeks. I still think Nash Jensen is the best option out of these backups and might be playing by halftime

Thomas Brown (I believe it was him at least), said in presser Zavala would stay at RG to maintain some continuity.

I think the tweet I saw saying they were starting also said Reich wouldn't say with side they were playing.

It's tough.  Zavala looked amazing at RG, so I understand the continuity, but it would probably be worth it to go ahead and put Zavala back next to Ickey and Mays at RG to hold it down until Corbett comes back.

Yeah it’s entirely possible they changed their mind as the final days of prep went on. I think Brown said they’d like to keep continuity but odds are Zavala winds up back at LG in a few weeks anyway so it makes plenty of sense to switch him now.

    • Idk man, I think it’s necessary.  There’s people working 9-5s everyday that get told poo about what they aren’t and what they’re not capable of and they’re working for scraps.  These guys are making millions.  People are watching and invested because their team and fandom is a part of their identity and a big source of pride.  When someone like Bryce comes in and is given chance after chance after chance after proving he is not worthy of the position he’s being gifted, and he continues to be the biggest reason above any that we are losing, yeah…  I think it’s fair to call a spade a spade.  Am I saying Bryce the person is trash?  Bryce the person is a piece of poo?  Absolutely not.     I came up in an era, especially in basketball, where if you were fuging up people heckled the poo out of you.  I played in rec leagues as a teen where the fuging parents were calling kids trash and yelling poo like “TURNOVER!!!  TURNOVER!!!”  “CANT DRIBBLE!”  “CANT SHOOT!”  And that’s adults screaming that poo to kids like we were in the fuging Rucker lol.🤣🤣🤣  I went on to play basketball at a collegiate level and with professional players in different settings.  What those experiences as a kid taught me was to see if there is any merit to what people are saying, and if there is, then work my ass off til they can’t say that anymore.  Come back better, tougher, harder.  And I did.  If kids can figure that poo out, an adult calling another adult who is bad at his job while making millions and millions of dollars will be just fine.
    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
    • I'm not so sure. Something about the whole Frank/Bryce situation seemed off from day 1. Bryce didn't fit Frank's QB mold as well as Stroud, then he basically gives up when Bryce is named starter in preseason but gets virtually no reps in games. Then he looks completely unprepared and Dalton steps in in Seattle, has a decent game under immense pressure, and it's right back to Bryce. All his mechanics are terrible and he's having the worst rookie season ever and Frank doesn't bench him?  You dont have to be a conspiracy theorist to know Bryce wasn't ready to be a day 1 starter. Everything with Bryce, then coaches, and the FO seemed forced.
