Fitts couldn't hold his water one more draft and it will likely be his downfall.  I get the heat he was feeling, especially from Tepper, but man this draft will probably be the nail in his coffin as the Panthers GM

Yeah, I think he might struggle to see next offseason. TBD.

The best thing we could have done, and what I was a HUGE proponent of was getting the bridge QB a la Bridgewater and do it the right way this time.  We got Dalton, so the opportunity was there.  With a brand new staff and a fan base hungry for some success, this was the way to go.  Get some weapons on offense and draft the rookie in 2024.  Chance are we would have been a middling team and could have still got a QB without trading to #1 or trading up at all because the QB draft is so deep.  Not having the #1 overall would have taken away the urgency to play the rookie right away.  It's not uncommon for mid-first round QBs not to start their first season or sit at least a portion of the season.

If you know how much I enjoy the draft and see how absent I was in the draft forum after the trade with the Bears...it would make complete sense.

    • Honestly, it only makes sense if you're trying to chase being the best bad team you can be this year. The number one question we need answered this season is whether or not Bryce is our long-term franchise QB. Trading away a second year WR who was second on the team in catch percentage, first in yards per target, and who clearly outplayed your 1st round pick for a likely one year rental fill in LB is exactly the type of short sighted desperation moves that has made us the worst franchise in the league under Tepper. We gotta stop making these types of moves and just focus on building a good organization and a good roster. Lloyd is a JAG LB another bad team and awful defense is wavering on and a couple of Panthers fans are salivating over him. Oof. We just need to be patient and wait. Definitely make some calls around the league to teams deep at LB and see if there's an opportunity to add one for a late round pick. Definitely shop the waiver wire hard. The reality is that LB is almost certainly going to be a weakness for us this year. We weren't fixing our entire roster in one off-season and we're not fixing an overall weak positional group in late July.  If you trade for Lloyd LB is still a weakness and you've given up a young promising WR who could potentially help you answer the question of whether or not Bryce is that guy. That's bad football business.
    • I think it's because we've had a player to hate on NO (Breese) and Atl (Ryan) while Tampa had Winston who was never really a threat or dislikable like the other 2
    • yeah. it was also reported that Brown was taking it light today because of oblique soreness. Sounds like the 2 of them were a bit too rough with each other for practice.
