It's funny because you'd think his familiarity with Icky would be a positive.

They played 5 games together in college. Zavala was transferred during the summer, later got injured so they barely trained and played together. BC have played and trained more with Ickey than Zavala have.

Trial by fire, I feel for him but it’s good learning experience.  Hopefully he grows from this.

You don’t throw rookie olinemen out there to learn on the fly when you’ve traded the farm for a tiny QB. I swear, I really don’t think our front office has a clue what they’re doing.

Backup rookie starting game 1 on opposite side than where he played the majority of preseason is doing poorly? Color me shocked.

Are we really expecting a 4th round lineman to be thrown into a starting gig at the very last minute to be playing well?  What does he have...10 padded practices as the starter?

    • To me, this seems like they feel they aren't going to be competitive. I can't help but go back to Bryce. Good guy, but he doesn't inspire people to give it their all. He isn't a "leader" that people look to. There is no Smith, Delhomme, Kuechly, Cam, etc. coming in that door.  It has to be Bryce, but biologically speaking, how often is the shortest man in the room going to command the kind of respect that will drive people? It just isn't. That isn't how we are wired. That isn't how any living animal on Earth today is wired.  I just follow the science guys.
    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
