Ummm, now that we are 0-5, hell no. We don't need to win any games this year so that way we at least have the first pick in the 2nd - 4th rounds.

If it were after week 1 when Bryce clearly was not ready to play, then I would say yes. Now we need to just get reps for young guys and evaluate players that should be here long term (which sadly there aren't many deserving of such)

They have the 1st overall pick right now. On top of that they will still have their top 5 pick, mostly likely the 2nd pick.  As thigs stand right now I cannot see any way we do not finish dead last in the standings.

Absolutely NO reason to sit Bryce. He just played his best game of the season so far against the toughest opponent we've faced, despite the two picks. For the first time we actually seemed to just run our offense and let him play. It wasn't perfect, but the flashes were there.

We have to let him play, gain experience, and learn from the mistakes he's going to make. It's the only way he gets better.

This is the stupidest thing I've read all week. Who gives a poo if the pick we gave Chicago ends up being #1 overall or #4 overall? What difference does that actually make for us other than making the panicked portion of the fanbase feel a little better?

We're not making the playoffs; we know this now. This season is now 100% about getting Bryce Young as many reps as possible and allowing him to work out the kinks now so that by season's end we have a pretty clear idea of just what we have in him and whether he's improving or not.

Starting Andy Dalton now accomplishes what? There's no guarantee that we win anymore games with him than we do with Bryce at QB and we're not making the playoffs regardless, so why delay Bryce's development (or, for those that already think he's a bust, confirmation of that) by starting a guy we KNOW for a fact isn't the answer at QB long-term?

Because the locker room is losing faith.  Brian Burns offering zero encouragement publicly is the point being made here.  You're not going to find the patience you're preaching we need when players career paths and earning potential are affected by ineffective QB play.

The reason for starting Dalton would be to win a few games. This team does not know how to win. I still think there is sticker shock on Young and he may not be as ready as they thought. I think they spent so much time, focusing on his test scores and his ability to process that they thought this was enough to overcome his physical limitations. I still think Tepper pushed the analytics as that has been his MO since day one. 
 

i know i am a minority opinion on this but i did not want the Panthers to trade up. I thought it was too costly and the team needed valuable pieces to give up what they did.

Naw. . .our 1st round pick doesn't mean a hill of beans to us at this point whether it's the #1 pick or the 18th pick.  Hell, if we can't make the playoffs it's in our best interest to tank for the 33rd pick.  *I know.  I can't believe I'm saying that either. LMAO)

Morale is a real thing.  The entire team can go in a funk (already probably are) or hurt Bryce's ego with a mini-benching.  If Bryce is as mentally strong as they claim, sitting him for a few games to get this thing back on track shouldn't scar him.  He should embrace it honestly and learn from a veteran for a bit.

You were not alone in the trade up decision.  I too didn't think this team was in the position to waste picks on one player. They were and still are not one player away.

      II see it this way: We have to look at long-term needs and current depth.  We have filled some key spots with players on one-year contracts.  I firmly believe that they intend to pay Bryce some big bucks next year.  That means you cannot hope that your rookies in 2027 can fill the spots vacated by the veterans you could not afford to re-sign.   We need to consider the cap and the fact that the need to start a rookie is not viewed as a positive by coaches and general managers, but they value first contracts--so it is a delicate balance. I think they have to look at the cap by position--"Can we afford a $50m QB and a $100m OL?  That is half the cap, before you pay your WRs and RBs and TEs.  They need to start getting younger on the OL as well.   I am not suggesting that we draft OT in round 1, but we could and I would get it.  RT on a 1-year deal, they may have intel about Ickey (who was not the best LT, to be honest) and 32-year old Moton is on a bad wheel.   Now if you go by Morgan's history, you can almost tell what position we are going to address with the first pick by noting the positions he has not focused on in free agency.  DT, considering the lack of performance by those not named Derrick Brown and the loss of Robinson, is screaming to be addressed with a top player.  Wharton is not an early down DT (DE if you want to get technical) and our LBs need to be clean--they were not in 2025.  Look for a DT early. I also think we will address ILB (pass covering Will) on day 2.  The other day 2 pick will be an OT, in my view. Do not rule out CB.  We are thin there too, and Jackson is in his final year.  I am not sure that we love Smith-Wade.  Some crackhead on here talked about moving him to S----stay tuned.   Hopefully, a team wanting Ty Simpson will move up and offer us a pick or two to move back. DT WILB OT OC QB  (you heard it here 337th--but this pick could come sooner than you think.

      Bryce had some bad games, but he had some good ones as well (and this is coming from a Bryce skeptic). I think it's a little simplistic to put all the offensive woes on Bryce, you also should be looking at O-line play, receiver play, RB and TE play, and also coaching. There's no way when I look at the offense in it's totality am I ready to say that a so-so to bad offense was all on Bryce, and, I also can't say that we don't need to upgrade any position on offense, save Tetairoa McMillan (who also wasn't perfect) and maybe the starting guards and T-mo.
