Hmm, I wonder if the Panthers will FINALLY learn their lesson about overpaying RBs? Like I (and most huddlers on here) have said, you can draft a 5th round RB and be successful, as long as your o-line is solid. RBs are a dime a dozen.

And...it doesn't take a brain surgeon to draft and develop a solid offensive line over a period of 3/4 years. It can be done...IF the GM knows what he is doing. The single most important position group on any team. It keeps the offense on the field and the defense off the field.

But Christian McCaffrey’s are not a dime a dozen.

That’s been my only issue with the “dime a dozen” line.

I was on board trading CMC because paying a RB big money on a rebuilding team is stupid... Great... Until we way overpaid this scrub. Use the money on O-line again and again and again and again and use late round picks on RB or UDFA.  We have the worst GM in the league.

Sadly our HC was born before the first ice age and in that time RB was the way to go.

All of us scratched our collective heads at the signing and the cost. I was optimistic due to his wide receiver ability. His catching ability out of the backfield has been okay.  At best he should be our 3rd down back until Tarik Cohen gets up to football speed. Then let the best man play. Chuba Hubbard should clearly be the starter.

    • Aggressive runner, hits the hole fast, and runs angry.  Just a few yards shy of the single game record for the team.  Absolutely phenomenal performance.  If the gameplan hadn't become weirdly pass heavy for the 3rd and first half of the 4th quarters he might have been flirting with 300.
    • I felt that way before the season started, but I'm sorry, he's already proven he isn't that guy, I don't need to learn anything more about him. He threw the ball 30 times today and could only throw for 198 yards, which was his 2nd best yardage game this year, he's just not the guy. Which means this season has already moved onto the 2nd most important thing going into this season after evaluating Bryce, and that's developing our best young players. You don't do that by only throwing 8 of your 30 passes to your best player who is still only a rookie.  Pepper him with targets and help develop him so he's ready to take a huge leap next year when we get a real HC and QB to get him the ball.
    • Every win comes from a non-sustainable source.  As CRA mentioned, Penix absolutely imploding against ATL, and then today, defense finally clicked and looked the best they’ve looked in a long time (and still have up 24 points lol) and Rico ran for 200+ yards.  We’re not going to get that every week, especially against good teams, which neither Miami or ATL are.  Both MIA and ATL are bad teams and Bryce still couldn’t get it together.  The defense (and team) had to overcome 14 points because of his turnovers again.  That was not even an average QB performance.  We are winning in spite of him.
