What I take from this is that it looks like the Southern Illinois Salukis do a better job of getting guys ready to play in the NFL than the Carolina Panthers do.

Sadly I feel like I have to agree with this.

I just don't understand how he can have a game like he did against the Vikings last year where we let him play more free off the edge blitzing, covering the flats, and covering the RB and he absolutely dominates and then decide "F it, lets just make him a deep cover safety and not let him do anything else"... If we did the same to Burns and said "Yeah, we know Burns can be an elite pass rusher, but we need help with coverage so we will just drop you into coverage every play", we would look like morons. I guess if we did that, at least we wouldn't be having to give Burns 30 mill a year to keep him...

If we're not gonna play Chinn then sure this makes some sense but I'd much rather we keep him and get a coach who isn't a fuging idiot and will use him properly. He has All-Pro capabilities in the right role. Jamal Adams lite. Also I like Chinn and wouldn't wish it upon him to be sent to that shithole Denver (not the city, the org.) w/ that douche HC.

I’m just gonna say it - Chinn is way overrated around here.

Snow didn’t use him to his potential after year 1.

Wilks didn’t use him to his potential down the stretch last year.

Evero is a defensive mastermind and doesn’t see much value in him.

At what point do we stop living in a fantasy world about this guy? He overachieved his rookie year and has been JAG since.

Jeudy is about as meh as it gets, so he would fit in nicely here.

Yes. And a lot of Panthers fans on this board live in a dream world

look at the playoff teams and then tell me that the panthers have more than 6 players on off and def combined any other team would want

The drafting and free agent signings the last five years, along with the high contracts for sketchy players like DJAX is mind boggling and it continued with Sanders

One  day they  will learn that the oline and it’s backups are the most important asset they need to build. It’s a 17 week season   Instead they waste draft capital over and over again

…given that they knew they were drafting a midget, it might have behooved them to fix that oline vs trading up for a 25 year old DL that’s almost never on the field or a questionable 2nd rd receiver.

it is franchise personnel failure   No getting around It

This sums it up for me.

I really thought Evero would find a way to maximize Chinn's abililties. It's still early, but for a guy with that much potential, he seems like a square peg in a round hole in Carolina. I feel like the unit of Bell, Woods (once healthy) and Jones collectively can give us what Chinn does for 15-18 snaps/game.

If we're looking at upcoming contracts, Chinn also seems like the odd man out if we have to cut ties with someone. He's a UFA this summer, so if he's not a franchise piece, and it fetches us a young WR, I'm good with the swap.

It’s because for some dumb reason no coach has used him properly in the slot he should play. It’s mind boggling why they don’t.

id rather picks at this point(if Fitts is gone after the season).

He's not fast or quick enough to be a DB, hes not big or strong enough to be a LB.  Its a tough situation not having a true position.

I think that’s just kind of fluff around him, he’s good and I think on any other team he’d thrive. We should just don’t use him proper in a scheme. We force him to be one of those two things instead of his natural position.

The back to back fumble return touchdowns  his rookie year got him all hyped up. Honest to god can not remember him doing anything relatively impactful since.

    • Not only for Andersen but the whole team, having not beat the Habs this season before tonite.  Shows them that they aren't jinxed.
    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
