Stroud and ARich have been running the specific play call designed.

”Richardson before the injury, and CJ.  They get them to the line.  They snap the ball and the run the play.”

”with Bryce, it’s everything else.  It’s the protections, it’s the adjustments and it’s A Lot.”

 

 

Sounds like they’re going to dial him back and start treating no him more like an actual rookie.

So we went from vanilla preseason to him making adjustments on the line that is just getting taken away in week 6 at 0-5? WTF came up with this process? What have they seen the first 5 weeks that leads them to believe they shouldn't be treating him like a normal rookie? Were they not already dialing it back down and they left this in there?

 This should have been done week 2 or week 3 at the latest. It really is worse this year and I don't understand how anything can be worse than the Rhule stuff. Just wow

With the game on the line, Ryans and Slowik put the play-calling duties in the hands of their rookie quarterback, and he manipulated the Falcons defenders perfectly to find tight end Dalton Schultz running up the seams for an 18-yard touchdown.

“Me and Bobby had a conversation on the sideline about a certain route that we wanted to do,” said Stroud on Wednesday. “We didn’t have it in at practice. I told Dalton to do a certain thing in his route that I thought would not only get us a first down but a touchdown. We were on the same page, but I was literally trying to break down exactly what I wanted from him in the huddle. At first I don’t think it registered, but then he said, ‘Okay, I get it.’

“Dalton is really smart and made a hell of a route. I was just being instinctive and putting my guys in the best position to make plays and win games and in that instance it was really special and Bobby was really happy on the sideline. He [Slowik] was a part of that too when I was talking on the sideline about doing it and he said, ‘If you are feeling it, just go ahead and make a play.’”

Stroud got the exact look he wanted and was telling the TE to run a route they weren’t even practicing while in the huddle and it resulted in the go ahead touchdown to put them up. Sure it’s not an audible once they got to the line but that’s because he knew the defense. 
 

But it also pretty sure I’ve seen Stroud and AR change plays up and audible out of bad spots. Not sure where this article is coming from.

Just let the dude play. This is typical Reich - tunnel vision, obsession over specific things and zoning in on specific areas of the field, and just over complicating poo. That has been a long time issue with him. It’s why I said this hire was trash along with him having the Colts trade their first round pick because Jesus. Let these guys compete, it’s not like things can get worse.

Wasn't the whole reason we drafted him was because he already did this stuff at a high level?

This is just embarrassing at this point, we screwed the pooch so badly on this one, even if Bryce does manage to turn things around and make a solid career for himself, the trade will forever be a bad one with what he gave up to get a guy who clearly wasn't the most pro ready QB of the bunch like we were told.

Frank Reich bragged about how much they were going to be/were asking out of Bryce all offseason and training camp.

That is the stuff that makes all of this so much worse. No one looks good for any of this. 

I really don't understand skipping the basic rookie approach of working them up from the beginning with a decent run game. They really didn't need to reinvent a whole new process of whatever the fug all of this is.

      After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...

      I like Morgan's approach but I'll wait for a few winning seasons before giving too much praise.
