Bryce is gonna go down as the second biggest QB bust in the 21st century

The difference is the 9ers still had a QB in Garrappalo in their pocket. We had nothing. While missing on Lance hurt for them it wasn't the end of the world. Missing on Bryce for us is a death sentence for wins for the next 2 to 3 years.

They lucked ass backwards into Brock Purdy, that was the real saving grace.

Plus the team surrounding whatever QB they played was actually really good. The team surrounding Bryce is dogshit.

Bryce tops Russel. Russel didn't cost what the Panthers paid.

And there was no doubt Russell was talented.  He did what he did without even studying fuging film or knowing gameplans lol.  He just didn't give a poo and had zero motivation to be great.  He also, accoridng to him, had forces within the building in Oakland that were actively sabotaging him and working against him.  That isnt the case with Bryce.  And despite what we know and saw from Russell, because of his physical ability, everyone will always wonder "what if?" because of his potential.

Bryce studies film, knows the gameplans, but just fuging sucks and doesn't have the physical ability to execute winning professional football plays consistently.  There is no what if, because he's trying his best with limited ability.

So, in my book, factoring that in as well as the cost to move up to take him, Bryce is by far the bigger bust.

There also was no one selected after Lance that has proven to be very good, where as there might be 3+  in Youngs class.

Tepper and the Bride pulled the strings to get Bryce. They had to.

Remember when Josh McCown was talking with CJ Stroud during his pro day when he said they would find a basketball court when he came to Charlotte?

This is on the Teppers and this pick is going down as the worst #1 pick in history.

Trey Lance is up there too, similar draft haul for him and I think Bryce has already played more than he ever has.

The 49ers were smart enough not to let Lance play when it was clear he sucked. They also got lucky with Purdy and they have a coach who knows how to call plays that work in the NFL.

The only way Bryce can work out is if he gains another 15lbs of muscle and translates that into arm strength. I haven’t seen one lazer all season.

His physical skillset doesn’t allow him to cheat any kind of looks. It has to be open or he won’t throw because he doesn’t have the arm to force anything. He has the anticipation but not the arm strength.

Except that kinda works for Trey in this argument. His incompetence has been hidden from view to all except his own teammates. Meanwhile Bryce is out here for the whole world to see.

I'd pay good money to see Young and Russell have a throw off. It'd be hilariously one sided, even now.

    • Joe Person @josephperson · 1m Dave Canales says Panthers will be in full pads for FanFest.   Steve Reed @SteveReedAP · 2m Dave Canales really wants fans to come out to FanFest on Saturday. It’s the only chance for fans to see the team in practice. It will be full pads.
    • Getting chippy out there. I like the energy and swagger from the offense. I expect the defense to return the favor. I also very much like Canales response to the "showboating" question. Right now just let them cook. We need this attitude.
    • Kassidy Hill @KassidyGHill · 8m Dave Canales starts off with an excited, "That was a great day."  Practice was definitely popping today.   Darin Gantt @daringantt · 7m Hunter Renfrow (hamstring) was held out today, along with Mike Jackson (toe) and Pat Jones (illness).  All seem reasonably minor. Canales said Renfrow told him he'd have played this week.   Steve Reed @SteveReedAP · 7m WR Hunter Renfrow tweaked a hamstring and CB Mike Jackson sprained his toe. Neither injury is considered serious. Dave Canales said if there was a game this week he could play. Pat Jones has a respiratory issue. Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 7m Hunter Renfrow tweaked his hammy but told Dave he could have played in a game. Mike Jackson (toe) and Pat Jones (illness) also held out of practice.    Joe Person @josephperson · 7m Panthers injury updates: -Hunter Renfrow has slight hamstring issue. -Mike Jackson has a sprained toe. -Pat Jones has an upper-respiratory illness.   Steve Reed @SteveReedAP · 6m Tetairoa McMillen had had some really bad plays and some really great plays in camp, per Dave Canales. Likes the way he bounced back from an early drop today in full padded practice.   Alex Zietlow @alexzietlow05 · 3m Canales says that Jaycee Horn punted the ball after he made an INT today. That explains Chuba Hubbard’s punt after his rushing touchdown today. Canales on the competitiveness: We can’t have that because of penalties … then he smiles … “but I kind of like it.” Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 4m “Let a dominant play be dominant,” Canales on guys showboating to the point of drawing penalties. Then jokingly acknowledges that he “loves” the bravado. #Panthers Alex Zietlow @alexzietlow05 · 5m #Panthers coach Dave Canales calls the competition in practice “special” and says Bryce Young’s big day is a product of his receivers being where they are supposed to be. Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 5m “Corey Thornton is having a great camp.” - HC Dave Canales said when talking about the physicality at corner vs. McMillan. Canales said he earned a bunch of reps from how he performed in OTAs. #Panthers  (I concur fwiw)
